“Perfectly relaxed in Kannur”
Reviewed December 26, 2012

Thank you so much to Seraanj and Jyothi for a lovely holiday at this Homestay. I stayed here with my wife for Christmas 2012 for 6 nights. Thotadda beach is beautiful and quiet, lined with coconut palms with no hawkers or restaurants, just a few Westerners and locals. Remember to cover up off the beach at all times here. A place to kick back, swim, read b

KK heritage is about 100m back from the beach down a quiet track. It is new, in fact it was having the finishing touches put on as we arrived! The room was basic but clean with a wardrobe, comfortable bed and mosquito net, and a bathroom with a good shower. The food is a real highlight, with fresh fish available most days and amazing breakfasts of roti, eggs and plenty of fresh fruit. Free filtered water is available to keep the plastic down. Seraanj and Jyothi were very helpful, always picking up the phone to arrange a rickshaw or check the times of the local Theyyam, which is highly recommended. They were also kind enough to let guests use their wifi connection, and communicated very well to arrange the booking. I would definitely come back

A great family holiday in KK Heritage with my cousins and families. The hosts Mrs & Mr.Sreeranj made us feel so comfortable with their great hospitality and home cooked Kannur cuisine. Felt like our own home !!

I would recommend KK HEritage to someone who wants to get the real feel of homestay, and chill out at the same time.

Do not forget to ask for the Fresh Coconut Toddy.. Right from the tree !!

Stop researching and book this place now. You can thank me later. From the moment we arrived, we received the warmest welcome at KK Heritage Homestay. The location here is ideal - just a 2 minute walk from a quiet beach, and so close you can hear the waves from the balcony. The building is brand new and very clean. We had the best food of our entire 3-week trip through India at this place, and it was served generously at outdoor tables under waving palm trees. Sreeranj went out of his way to help us plan our stay and arrange our onward travel. He even offered to wake up early to make us breakfast before we left on our last day. Once again, do yourself a favor and call (or email - he'll respond quickly) now. You won't regret it.

Room Tip: The upstairs rooms have a great view.

I had the pleasure to stay with Ranji in late November, 2012 at his beautiful homestay, which nestles between the palms of what can only be described as a tropical paradise that would rival any other either existing or thought up. I was also the first wifi user at KK and I can report that the internet is as smooth as a glass of fresh pineapple juice, which Ranji serves up daily. Please do yourself a favour and stop here whilst in India. I am 26, was travelling India on my own and found this place to be a secluded haven to read, write, chat with locals, eat delicious food and soak in the beauty of the flora and fauna, which exists in abundance. A deserted beach to top it off and you will have the same sores I wore from several attempts to tear myself from this place.

This homestay is truely a hidden paradise, a bit difficult to find, but once you found it, one never wants to leave again. The long and white beach is surrounded on one side by a forrest of majestic palm trees and on the other side by the warm and clean indian ocean. The guest house is almost directly on the beach, not even a minute of walking through this amazing jungle, where brown eagles with white heads fly from the trees, just like now and then a ripe coconut. There are cows chewing in peaceful harmony with some white birds that pick the insets off of them. The guest house is newly build and the owner himself takes care of the guests, obviously fully dedicated to the guests satisfaction. He has lived here all his life and and runs this home stay since many years. We also had a chance to meet his lovely family, who also made us feel extremly welcome.
The rooms are clean and simple. There are no TVs and the bathrooms have no hot water - but neither of these things seems missing, I would even say they would be out of place. The air is always hot and moist, so a colder shower is appreciated, while the hot sun always heats the pipes up just enough, so that the water is never unpleasant. The food, of which 3 full meals daily are included in the price, is simply amazing. It is all freshly made with local ingrediants, love and care for the detail.
There are many other home stays in the area, but KK Heritage is the best choice.

K.K Heritage offer the perfect homestay experience: A warm, friendly welcome from Ranji and Jyothi; lovely clean, comfortable and secluded accommodation; and the most fabulous home-cooked food (truely the best prawn biriani we have ever had!). We spent 4 days (too short!!) enjoying Ranji's hospitality - he is a delightful host, gentle and unobtrusive whilst offering friendly advice, information and assistance to ensure you can make the most of your stay at Thottada Beach. It was a marvellous relaxing 'break' during our 3 months of travels across India, and we certainly hope to return.

It's been 6 years since I first started visiting KK Heritage Homestay, it has gone from better to better every year! This year there was a special surprise, the new guest house, with terrace and rooms by the lagoon was complete. It's a very special experience to have your meals under the canopy of palms, watching the Brahminy kites swooping in and out of their nests and woodpeckers climbing the palm trunks .... followed in the evening by the toddy tapper! The beach is beautiful, the lagoon is a bird watchers delight and Ranji's home cooked dishes are to die for: fresh coconut and herbs from the surrounding trees, fish and vegetables from the local market combined to make the best Keralan cooking I've ever tasted. Ranji goes out of his way to make you feel comfortable without being in any way intrusive. This is a perfect place to rest and unwind for the bumpy bus rides and challenging train travel of India.

Room Tip: Bungalows at the back are quiet for intimate couples, rooms in the new house are more social and clo...
