The best thing about the hotel is definitely the location. It has a great view of the Arabian sea and the lighthouse adds to the great picture perfect backdrop.

We were staying in the sea view rooms with a balcony which looked recently renovated. The furniture and flooring was modern however the fixtures in the bathroom needed an upgrade. We also saw the garden facing rooms which really needed a renovation as the furniture was old fashioned and unclean.

The breakfast spread was very limited and not very appetizing. When we asked for made to order eggs we were told these would be charged and they were not a part of the buffet. The service was also very slow in their restaurant during dinner and we had to wait almost 40 mins for our order.

Service and food quality needs definite improvement and certain rooms are due for renovation. Overall an average property at a good location.

Room Tip: Go for the sea facing rooms with balconies. These seemed to be recently renovated.

Our room overlooking the Arabian sea was an absolute delight. The moonlight reflecting off the water with the lighthouse in the background gives one a sense of perfect tranquility. And you wake up to see the fishing boats returning with their catch from the nights' outing and seagulls hovering over them. What a perfect way to start your day! The evening sunset with dazzling colors bouncing off the waves is a sight to behold.
The Hotel is a 15 year old property but quite well maintained. We were told renovation is under progress. It is located quite close to the city center, ten minutes drive away. The food was okay but there is scope for improvement. The service provided by the hotel staff is excellent. They helped us a lot in giving us valuable inputs with respect to places of interest to sight- see along with proper directions. When we informed them of our desire to try out restaurants in the city(we are hard core foodies) they not only let us know the options but also properly guided us to each of them. All in all a very wonderful stay and absolute value for money.

We stayed at Mascot in November and found the place refreshingly clean and well-maintained. Their restrooms were great, and so were the showers and water pressure. The food was exceedingly good, and the service was impeccable.

Great location, but the rest of the stay here was not quite that good. The rooms and the surrounding area has to be maintained better. It looked old and tired. The staff was nice, the food was also quite nice. The view from the hotel made up for most of the issues we had.

had a 2 night stay here from 14th Oct 2013.A very very good renovation required property overlooking the Arabian Sea. You can infact feel that you are in the midst of the sea. When you compare the present price with the location, its really very very worth.

Room Tip: Room No 401 , 402, 403 excellent as well as 303

I stayed in this hotel with family in August for two days. The booking was made on line. Just to be on the safe side, three days prior to the visit we phoned and confirmed the booking with the hotel. They confirmed the reference number and that they did indeed have our booking. When we arrived the hotel claimed that they did not have our booking and only after making a fuss they realised their mistake and tried to find rooms for us. Having traveled on a 12 hour overnight train journey with little sleep this was not a great start.

Unfortunately we were very disappointed by the rooms especially as we had been looking forward to our break at the hotel. The bedsheets and pillows had not been changed and were dirty. The toilet had not been cleaned. The furniture appeared dusty and damp. The air conditioning in one room made so much noise that we could not sleep and despite requesting that it be looked at, it was never rectified.

One good plus side was the breakfast which was well cooked and offered a fairly decent variety of food.

We feel frustrated because this hotel is in a really beautiful location and could draw in many more international travellers to showcase Kerala if more care and attention could be made to the cleanliness and hygiene in the rooms. Unfortunately this seems to be a common theme in many Kerala hotels where it appears its just too difficult to keep the accommodation clean enough to match international standards.

Rooms are very old and not maintained at all, Very limited food menu & no spa either. But has a very good view of the Indian ocean.

Swimming pool was quite dirty with no cleaning mechanism.

Overall to my view it was very poor.

Room Tip: go for the rooms with the balcony which seems to be newly constructed.
