had a 2 night stay here from 14th Oct 2013.A very very good renovation required property overlooking the Arabian Sea. You can infact feel that you are in the midst of the sea. When you compare the present price with the location, its really very very worth.

Room Tip: Room No 401 , 402, 403 excellent as well as 303

I stayed in this hotel with family in August for two days. The booking was made on line. Just to be on the safe side, three days prior to the visit we phoned and confirmed the booking with the hotel. They confirmed the reference number and that they did indeed have our booking. When we arrived the hotel claimed that they did not have our booking and only after making a fuss they realised their mistake and tried to find rooms for us. Having traveled on a 12 hour overnight train journey with little sleep this was not a great start.

Unfortunately we were very disappointed by the rooms especially as we had been looking forward to our break at the hotel. The bedsheets and pillows had not been changed and were dirty. The toilet had not been cleaned. The furniture appeared dusty and damp. The air conditioning in one room made so much noise that we could not sleep and despite requesting that it be looked at, it was never rectified.

One good plus side was the breakfast which was well cooked and offered a fairly decent variety of food.

We feel frustrated because this hotel is in a really beautiful location and could draw in many more international travellers to showcase Kerala if more care and attention could be made to the cleanliness and hygiene in the rooms. Unfortunately this seems to be a common theme in many Kerala hotels where it appears its just too difficult to keep the accommodation clean enough to match international standards.

Rooms are very old and not maintained at all, Very limited food menu & no spa either. But has a very good view of the Indian ocean.

Swimming pool was quite dirty with no cleaning mechanism.

Overall to my view it was very poor.

Room Tip: go for the rooms with the balcony which seems to be newly constructed.

I stayed at Mascot Beach Resort for two weeks in March 2013. It is located on a stunning part of the Malabar Coast of the Arabian Sea. It is situated fairly close to the beautiful Payyambalam Beach which comprises kilometres of gorgeous clean sandy shores.

I was quite unwell before I arrived at Mascot Beach Resort, and the hotel staff were amazingly helpful in speedily arranging my eventual admission in a hospital in central Kannur. As a lone foreign female traveller, the management insisted that I was assisted in every aspect of my short hospital stay - which was an absolute godsend - if any foreigner has experienced the process of being admitted into a hospital in India, they would understand! The hotel management insisted on assisting in every aspect of my short hospital stay. This included selecting one of the leading hospitals in Kannur, immediately responsive transportation to the hospital, help with registering at the hospital, and a member of staff even accompanied me during a part of my actual stay in hospital to ensure I had all my necessary belongings, that I had food and water, and helped with translating between medical when necessary. For a hotel, I felt that this was beyond their call of duty!

In the evenings, there are dining tables set out on the lovely garden terrace which overlooks the sea. It is a beautiful spot to watch the sunset and have a romantic dinner under the stars.

The restaurant provide a lovely buffet-style breakfast, both local and Western style cuisine. They were extremely accommodating in dealing with my special dietary requirements.

All the staff working at the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful. I found the Reception staff to be exceptionally helpful, and they were more than happy to assist with my enquiries, and also helped with arranging rail travel for my next journey in India.

I had a wonderful stay there, and would love to go back. I would highly recommend it.

Wonderful location of the hotel. Loved the bay view and perfect place for couples to stay. Food is average. Prefer to have lunch out. Dinner is fine. Breakfast was complimentary. Overall value for money to stay at such a wonderful location and view from the pool side is awesome. I recommend this place.

Stayed here for a couple of nights in March'13 after reading it's reviews on Tripadvisor about the location of the hotel.

The hotel is situated in an army area and it will cost you about Rs. 60 to reach in a autorickshaw from the railway station. First impression of the hotel is as mentioned by previous travellers - about the proximity to the sea and the view of the sea from the rooms.

However, the quality of the rooms leave a lot to be desired in terms of cleanliness and hygiene.
The room was quite dusty and dank and the bathroom was not quite clean with old fittings. Everything in the rooms were dusty - the floors, lamp shades, TV table.

There were small cockroaches scurrying about in the bathroom. Ugh! Quite offensive I would say. I used to keep the light on in the bathroom all the time (even during daytime) just to make sure the cockroaches do not crawl out of the pipes in the dark.

I've seen previous travellers mention about the dust and cockroaches and would have thought that the management would have taken steps to fix those. After all, how much time and money does it take to have effective pest control and proper cleaning services?

Complimentary b/f is hopeless and nothing to write about, one of the few dishes served in the b/f everyday was kerala bananas(?).

Food we had for dinner is quite good. I think the location is the only positive thing about this hotel. We could see local people coming every evening for the dinner by the seaside under the open sky. Not many people staying overnight though.

Would I stay here again? Nope.

Stayed at this property for one night, the check was very easy and front desk personnel's were very professional. The rooms were great facing the sea and had a nice view. The only problem is that you can to the beach as this hotel is located on a small cliff. They have a wonderful swimming pool which was clean and neat. The breakfast quality has to be improved and milk served for tea and coffee was not hot enough. Other than that its a great property to stay and very reasonably priced.
