Ticked all the boxes. Great clean and spacious rooms; lovely surroundings; amazing Keralan food and thank you to Kurian for letting us know when the Theyyam performances were on and organising a taxi there.

Costa malabari is a very beautifull place by the sea, south from Kannur. rooms are big and clean. meals are home made and totally awesome!!!! Kurien is very helpfull to get you train tickets and to help you see a theyyam ceremony. value is really good. the only slight disadvantage is the location: you Will need a taxi to get there and as soon as you want to go somewhere else. but then you have 2 peacefull beaches just a round the corner!

Costa Malabari is a dream place to stay - perfect food, a lovely location and great people, who helped organise all of our various comings and goings. Highly recommend, especially the chance to see the local Theyyam rituals.

Great food, private beach, good view of the sunset. What more can ask for?!
We highly recommend this place to anyone who visits the area. The beach is calm, clean and private. The food is delicious and the rooms very clean and comfortable. The owner, Mr. Kurian is very knowledgeable of the area, its history and culture. We had great conversation over dinner with him and the other guests. We didn't want to leave.

We made a last minute booking here for New Years Eve and the agency who dealt with the calls were efficient and accommodating. Mr. Kurien greeted us at Costa Malabari, and we were immediately served lunch. The food here is really delicious, thanks to Anni who served up gorgeous Keralite cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The room we stayed at was quite basic but shaded and comfortable. However, there seemed to be some sort of rot problem with the wooden ceiling beams, as we noticed a constant trail of wooden grains on the floor, and sometimes the bed. That’s the only small complaint about the place. Step outside the house, and you can settle into comfortable deck chairs on the veranda. In five minutes, its possible to reach the beach, which was quite secluded and a lovely place to watch the sunset. It feels very safe and we didn’t face any trouble wandering back and forth from the beach to the homestay.

During our stay, Mr. Kurien was also kind enough to arrange an evening where we watched ‘Theyyam’, which is a traditional ritualistic dance performed by local priests. And to top it all off, we met some fantastic people during our time there and spent New Year’s Eve on an empty beach (plus some curious fishermen!) setting off fireworks and relaxing till the wee hours of the morning. It was a great way to end our trip and we couldn’t bring ourselves to leave!!

I highly recommend this place to anyone who visits Kannur and wants a truly relaxing stay coupled with amazing food.

I made a reservation, received a confirmation, bought the air tickets and then they said they could not give me the room.
All the process was extremely disappointing, first time I get treated like that, really no respect also in the management of the problem.
Wanted to make sure you all know. Be aware, if that is the approach I doubt the rest can be worth.

It is kind of confusing that there is one name but three accommodation facilities.
We stayed at "Anis Cottage" with Kurien and Anis and we highly recommend it to everyone! When we arrived (it is quite hard to find, make sure you get the phone number of Kurien when you call the tourist desk in Kochi) the other guests greeted us with the words "welcome to paradise"! For 2500 Rs. we had the best Indian food ever (and so much!!), a beautiful beach nearby (at night we could hear the ocean, it is very close) and lovely people around us who cared for us and made sure we did not miss the Theyyam ritual. Don't miss this, it is such a wonderful place! :)
