The small size and personal touch of the owner and the staff make this a resort with a very friendly feeling. Coming here for the first time you feel like you are among friends. The ever smiling Paul who's always zipping around makes sure everyone is comfortable. Even the owner Mr Naveen is so unassuming and down to earth, you would not believe that he's the MD of a 100 year old Ayurvedic company. A lovely place, only be sure to book well in advance since there are only 8 rooms.

Room Tip: The sea view rooms are best as they face a very beautiful, peaceful beach.

This was without a doubt the most relaxing place I stayed in India. Right across the road from a beautiful long beach that was great to go for walks on. I wasn't there for the ayurveda but really just as a nice place to relax. The staff are all fantastic. Beautiful service and they are all really happy to be working there. The food situation does take a bit of getting used to but is ok. The room was lovely and had everything i needed. Naveen the owner also took me and another guest on a complimentary tour of his ayurverdic medicine factory which was extremely interesting. I also liked Kannur town - compared to a lot of busy places in India this place had a really nice vibe.

Room Tip: Seafront doesn't mean sea view as there is a bush blocking the view but it is still lovely as yo...

Being all around the South with a motorbike I came to Kannuar late in the evening. After a very disgraceful experience at the Prannav next door - they more or less kicked me out of the cottage again because I was not able to wait until next midday til they made aphoto copy of my passport - I felt very welcome at Asokam Beach Resort. I even got good dinner at 22.30 h. The rooms are basic but clean, the staff is very friendly and helpful, it is very quiet there and the beach is fantastic. Almost no people there !

I wanted to visit a beach resort in Kannur, so did a lot of research on Tripadvisor and finally zeroed down on Asokam Beach Resort after reading good reviews about it.

I and my wife stayed in Asokam Beach Resort for 2 days during weekend.

Property
------------
Small, nice and well maintained. 3 cottages, 4 rooms, garden, ayurvedic spa rooms, small restaurant where you can sit and enjoy your meal.

Room type
--------------
I stayed in Superior AC Sea View Room. It gives very nice view of the sea. The room was nice and clean.
You can go to the roof-top also for see view.

Staff
-------
The resort staff is very humble and gives personal attention to your needs.

Food
--------------
Breakfast was inclusive and good.
Lunch and dinner is brought from outside and tastes excellent. You need to order 1-2 hours in advance.

Beach
--------------
Beach is just 5 steps away from the resort. It is calm, peaceful and accessed by few.

Water sports
-----------------
You need to go 2 kms back to enjoy water sports on Payyambalam Beach. There you can see the crowd.
Water sports -- Boat ride, banana ride, bingo ride, scooter ride, parasailing etc.

We did camel ride also.

Sightseeing
-----------------
The popular sightseeing destinations are provided in your room booklet. We visited St. Angelo Fort which was beautiful.

Thanks to Mr. Naveen, Yogesh and Paul for making our stay comfortable and enjoyable !!!!!

Our family, traveling on a 1 year sabbatical, stayed here for 12 nights. We stayed in a 2nd floor room with a gorgeous view of the ocean and stunning sunsets. The beach is quiet and untouristed with warm water and playful waves for our 2 sons, ages 9 and 11. This was without a doubt, our most enjoyable stay in southern India. The owner and his lovely family were very accommodating to our family. Although we were not there for the ayurvedic spa treatments, it seems their offerings are quite extensive. The food was wonderful and the staff and service were always friendly and incredibly helpful. Whether arranging transport to downtown Kannur or scheduling a trip to the reptile zoo or waterpark, they were always on top of it with a reliable/fair driver. We highly recommend the Asokam Beach Resort to anyone visiting southern India. If you are looking to get away from congested city life or find a quiet retreat from the crowded party scene of Goa, this is the place! Tripp and Gretel Ridge

We stayed at Asokam on 30 & 31st Dec 2012.

Location:
The resort is located on Payyabalam beach which is just few steps from the resort gate.
The best part of our stay was enjoying on the Payyabalam beach which is very clean and accessed by very few people (only resort guests).
It gave me a feeling of Goa beaches.

Service:
Overall service was good except, that there was a small mistake in taking the dinner order which resulted in us getting mixed fried rice whereas we had ordered prawn fried rice.
The issue is mainly due to that there is no restuarant in the resort.
Most of the food is brought from some restuarant in the city.

Apart from the above issue everything was perfect.

Rooms:
We had stayed in the "Sea facing room". Rooms were clean and well maintained.
Were little small compared to Seashell beach resort that we visited previous night (NOTE: Both the resort rooms were of same price)
Even though the room name is sea facing room, it is difficult to get a view of the sea since the resort boundary wall obstructs the view.

The resort overall is very well maintained with a nice garden.
Mr. Naveen had personally ensured that my daughter (3 years) had a good time by providing her a bicycle in the garden and also with a small slide (portable) and soft balls to play with.

Thankyou Mr. Naveen for making our stay comfortable.

Room Tip: Avoid the sea facing room but try to get a room in the main block of the resort.

I was absolutely delighted to discover this place for a two day visit (12-14 December 2012) as part of a longer honeymoon trip. I only wish I had another day here. I was planning a multi-destination trip and as part of a stopover idea to have a break in a journey I had planned a stop here and it turned out a beautiful location and facility. The resort which is right on the beach which is very clean and not at all crowded. I think this is a perfect resort to rest and just spend some quality romantic time watching the sunset on the beach.

The trip from Wayanad by road into the city hardly gave us any insight into what we were in for. As soon as we reached the street the resort is on the beach is in sight and from the moment we reached there it was splendid. We were received and shown to our room. The resort has 8 rooms, and the room was modern, clean and spacious. It had an LCD television with a set-top box (we didn't see much TV butr had a limited selection of channels for non-south Indian audiences), closets, big mirror, all the essentials hot/cold water, bottled drinking water, etc. Whenever electricity went we had prompt requests for switching off the television though, as the back-up couldn't take the load of things except lights and fans.

The food choices were a bit limited, and we had to order atleast an hour in advance but for us that was hardly an inconvenience. The food was good quality, tastewise and we had choices across South/North India, Chinese, etc. There is no 24 hour restaurant and there aren't too many close by where you could go out walking to eat. But the hotel staff was very courteous and provided us with candle light dinners in the lawn, which was really nice. Men and women have separate massage chambers. Breakfast choices needed to be pre-ordered and served in an enclosed area. The service is very personalised. We also tried ayurvedic massages and steam (in an enclosed box, don't expect a steam room) and consulted the ayurvedic doctor, who was very pleasant and understanding and has given me some medicines which I am having, usually takes time so cannot vouch for effectiveness. The place was fully booked and we were the only Indian guests in the facility. The owner Naveen was very kind and dropped us to the railway station for our onward journey to Kochi. He came around dinner time with his family and visited all the guests checking for their comfort, which was very nice.

One can get the hotel staff to call for cabs/auto rickshaws for visits into the city. The fort in the city is really nice and worth visiting, we saw a number of forts during our honey moon and this one was particularly nice.

The beach was really nice, quiet and clean...it seemed the perfect place for romantic walks and we didn't have enough time for more of it. I would definitely consider a revisit at some point with a few more days there. I am so thankful for the staff and management there for a wonderful time and hospitality. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a quiet time to relax, rejuvenate and enjoy the beach...

Dear Manish. . We are glad to receive your review written in details and are delighted to note that you had an enjoyable and a comfortable stay. Besides me, the rest of the team is also very happy to receive your feedback.. We have noted all your comments and suggestions. .

We have installed a 15KV generator and hence there will not be any reason to switch off the TV. Also I shall arrange to upgrade the Set-top-box to include more channels.

We look forward to the pleasure of welcoming you back to ASOKAM in the not too distant future.

Have a great honeymoon!
Best regards NAVEEN
