This was not my first trip to Royal Omars... But I must say i have seen a steady decline in quality... When i first visited there in 2007, This was the one of the best hotels available in Kannur... Rooms are OK... But has to improve on the cleanliness... Food was the biggest turn off factor this time... Buffet Breakfast was poor, Low on choices... Again on the service they hav a lot to improve... But best thing about the hotel is its close proximity to the Railway station, Only walkable distance from railway station...

Room Tip: Rooms at top floor give you a good view of kannur..

This hotel is located very near to Kannur Railway Station and very convenient when coming by a night train or if you have to catch a early morning train . The rooms are clean but room service and food need improvement.

We were looking for Buffet Lunch and found it at Royal Omar . Quality of the food was okey but verity and spread of food was very limited . Food was not kept hot . Dessert was only payassum , No ice cream , no cakes . If the verity and spread is increased , it would have been better .
Service was not very good . Their was no display , indicating the name of the food .
Overall , it could have been better compared to the cost they charged .

Good Luck .

The location of this hotel is very convenient, it is right next to the bus stop and just half a kilometre from the railway station. However the room had a damp feel about it, infact even the lights were not properly working when I entered.

I was given a room in the 5th floor, and I have to say the room left me very dissapointed. The blankets and mattresses seem really old, and the whole room is dimly lit. The TV is so small you'll have to strain your eyes to see anything on it. I would say for roughly the same amount of money you can get into Blue Nile which is a much better hotel.

Breakfast was excellent in this hotel, however

We happened to stay here a few days back..The main thing which i was very sad about this hotel was that while we called them at night they said one tariff so we thought of going this hotel but while checking out the charge was diffenet .The difference of 500 was clearly seen in the bill. They said the staff might have have wrongly said that. They dont have a tariff displayed at front recpetion also.complimnetary breakfast was ok and for lunch they was pushing for buffet .when we enquired about alacarte they said it will take time, even after that the food came by 5 mts.restaurant staff was eager to take the plate and go before we finish our food!!!!!!!!!.They said the room service was opened 24 hrs though when we called at 12 they said kitchen was closed.being late all was tired and we slept without having anything

I used to frequent Royal Omars in Kannur, whenever conferences and meetings were held there. I was very impressed with the building, rooms and food served there.
Royal Omars is a few years old, and is one of the two hotels in Kannur which can claim to have business hotel like facilities. The approach to the hotel is easy, and you can't miss it from the main road, with the neon lights guiding you.
One of the grouches is the Parking, which is insufficient for the number of guests at the hotel. The lobby is neat, and the reception is prompt in answering any queries one might have. The hotel has an elevator. The restaurant is not huge, and can get a bit crowded in the afternoons especially when the Omars buffet lunch gets going (It's good). There are two conference halls - the big one on the ground floor, and the mini one in the upper levels. The rooms are neat and the beds comfortable. Air conditioning is good, and room service is prompt. The toilets are also well maintained. The restaurant serves all kinds of food - from malabar cuisine to chinese. There is no swimming pool. The sleep will be comfortable, provided you dont mind the trains at odd hours , as the hotel is opposite to the kannur station railway tracks. On the whole, a good business class hotel in this town.
