I'm always wary of resorts that advertise the facilities they have on offer spicing it p with images that are not always in sync with whats actually available. But with Sea shells, it was an eye opener. We got the rooms that we saw on their site. We got the food that they advertised and most importantly we were treated wonderfully by the people running it especially Mr.Haris. The beach home is on a cliff that faces the sea and you have access to the beach from within the resort itself.

The rooms were spic and span and spacious for us (2 adults and a child). The linen was clean and the bathrooms were extremely clean. We were given an upgrade to royal cottages (we had booked beach house) for no extra cost. The view was beautiful. This is the first time for my family that we had our meals looking out into the sea and the beach.

The staff was extremely polite and and are always at your beck and call. Mr.Haris gave us insight into the local places to visit and also arranged transportation to take us around. The food was wonderful although it would have been great to have more variety on the sea food front. But in the end, whatever we ate, it was delicious.

We had a wonderful time at sea shells. we look forward to visiting again soon. Excellent job Mr.Haris and co. please keep up the great work.

Had been to this resort after reading great reviews about this place from Trip advisor, here are my Genuine observations and experience about this place

1) The Resort looks pretty Awesome on the Website but in Reality it is none of that sort.

i) The rooms are too small and very shabby ( it has the feel of a VERY LOW BUDGET HOTEL ) whereas they are actually charging a very high premium for what they are offering. In Kerala you will get much better options for way lesser price

ii) The Bathroom is also too small and crammed up with the shower right next to the pot

2) On Parking my Car I was greeted with 2 GRAVES in the Resort Compound ( not a very pleasant sight when you have come for a Vacation ).

3) The food is nothing much to be talked about as they are Charging a very exorbitant sum for a very mediocre quality of food

4)The location of this resort is such that you would need a 4 x 4 to make it in one piece ( the approach road are soo bad and narrow with POT HOLES the size of moon craters)

5) Anyone with DUST ALLERGIES PLEASE STAY AWAY, The ROOMS are very dusty and I got my bout of Asthma Attack because of the dust in the room

6) This place is Charging Rs3500 for a night which i feel is way too expensive for the Quality of Service and Facility that is being offered, this place is not worth more than Rs1000-1200 for a Night.

7)Would appeal for the BUDGET TRAVELLERS only if it were available for the BUDGET PRICE else STAY AWAYYYY....There are a lot many better resorts available at a much better price ( Just google for it )

Overall a Pathetic Experience and would recommend to STAY AWAY..i still do not understand how people could recommend this Place....maybe they have no clue about so many better options available

Sir,
Our management would like to reply with an example:

- An APPLE / or ORANGE is a fruit - Any customer who like to buy it , he buy it happily...because he likes it and loves the taste of such fruit .

- in same case - If any one dislikes such fruit ,Then he will hate it . we can,t make him satisfied with anything. Also he will be having so many arguments for his dislike.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here , the guest was a lonely traveler and he din,t ask any concession for his lonely stay.
but even we made some discount for his per night charge. And we tried convincing him a lot.

But the guest was dreaming of 5 star category luxury service.

Seashell - is in a village with authentic traditional buildings and nature. mainly for peace , recreation , Yoga , meditation..etc

Note - We have just conveyed the taste of our fruit.

We stayed at Sea Shell for the third time in January 2014, for six days. We were last here two winters ago, about the same time of year, and found the place essentially unchanged: the same enthusiasm from the Mr Harises, the same excellent food, the same stunning situation overlooking the blue Indian Ocean. The staff were, if anything, even more helpful than in the past, and paid attention to our every whim. The rooms, as we remembered, are clean and well-designed, but vary in size and location, so a slight lottery is involved for the best rooms. We strongly recommend Sea Shell if you are looking for a few days close to the tranquil and, as yet, unspoiled beaches on Kannur District.

On a more general note, a couple of problems with this area have arisen or increased since we last came two years ago. 1. Young men from neighbouring areas have taken to visiting the beaches at weekends and holidays and some cases of harassment of young foreign women were mentioned to us: neither of us being in that age/sex category, we were not affected personally. 2. in some places large packs of stray dogs congregate and one of us was threatened by such a pack on a beach 1 km from Sea Shell while walking alone early in the morning. I was really glad I had been warned by a local and carried a large stick. I had to swing it vigorously to deter them. Resolute combined action by the owners of the guest houses in the area could probably solve both problems which, if allowed to spread, could blight an otherwise Paradise-like situation.

As you and your partner have been a part of my family . it was good this time also. and i noticed the feedback which you pointed . hopefully in sundays some outsiders may commented . But its very new for us. because no one told us any complaint like this ever. Any how we are having a plan to fix a alert board in beach "Don't disturb tourist " and contact no: police .

I luvd the stay at the resort. It was peacefull and harmonious. I luvd the property, the manager -Mr.Shijin tuk care of me and my friends like never before. The food was excellent and authentic kerala style. The owner Mr.Harris also found time for us. Absolute value for money and the thought to retire for a weekend after a busy week would be a ready choice to here. It is a home just like the name suggests. I would rate it Excellent!!!

Isolated location - if you are comming by train it's best if the hotel sends a tuk-tuk to pick you up from the station, as a random driver might not know the place.

Rooms are adequate without being luxurious, with a nice sit-out area (although lots of large ants around). Set meals provided at extra cost - if you don't have your own transport you'll need to eat here. Breakfasts very good, but lunch/dinner did get a bit monotonous (same yellow dahl kept appearing) - I know we were veggie, but a bit more variety shouldn't have been difficult. If you are a westerner tell them you like spicy food or it may be quite bland. Servings very generous though, so after a couple of days we opted out of lunch and just had fruit salad, which was willingly provided.

Free wi-fi in communal area but not in most rooms, no back-up power in rooms so keep a torch handy.

Friendly owner knows where regular Theyyams are held & will arrange tuk-tuk.

i have spent ten fabulous days at that gem of a place, located a few kms away from Kannur.
What makes the place so special ?

The location:
The resort is perched on a rock promontory, in the midst of palm trees with the sea below. One has access to one's private beach where swimming is safe and pure joy.
I cannot understand the negative comments passed by the person who said it was an unsafe place ( locked gate at night )and access problems to the place. When I was there, there was a big minibus rented by Dutch people who spent four days at the resort and kept coming and goind and parking in the big parking place !
If you are in for a zen place, this is for you.No discos, no noise, no shops. You hardly hear the muezzin from the mosk, just the lapping waves.

The rooms:
There are 3 kinds of rooms, all of them immaculate and facing the sea.If you can afford the splurge, opt for the first floor ones, overlooking the sea, with private terrace and deck chair.Seeing the sea, the sunset from your bed or the bathroom is absolutely fabulous.

An eagle lovers' paradise:
The resort should be called " Eagles' den ".Dozens of superb white and brown bellied sea eagles nest in the palm trees.I spent numerous hours watching them , completely fascinated by their hovering so close.
Haris breeds many pigeons for competition and sitting in the backyard to see them fly and defy the eagles is quite something;
Goatie is a facetious , tame, doggie like goat who wanders around, in the hope you will give her something edible.

The owner and the staff:
Haris is a wondeful host, in all senses of the term. His son came to pick me up at the bus station .Haris will do his utmost to make you happy, buying big prawns, crabs or mussels especially for me.He even sent one of his staff to the train station at 5a.m. to queue for FIVE hours so that I could get my train ticket .
The food is absolutely delicious, plentiful and varied.Complimentary Indian breakfasts, BBQ fish grilled in banana leaves by Haris. And you get beer !
The staff is absolutely lovely.

What to do in the area ?
Enjoy swimming, go and visit the backwaters nearby by taking the local ferries, attend the stunning martial arts show, discover the Theyyam ceremonies with knowledgeable Veneeth, the tuk tuk driver and adopt the zen attitude by doing NOTHING in this paradise on earth !

If you are looking for a luxurious property, ultra-modern amenities, manicured lawns, fantastic entrance, pampered room service...This is not the place for you. But, if you are looking for a mind-blowing view, peace, tranquility, getting one with nature, yummyliscious food, homely service and warm hosts.....THIS IS THE PLACE FOR U....Seashell is surrounded by God made beauty and the hosts make the stay beautiful. Amazing food, yes with restrictions of a homestay so no wide variety but decent enough to cater to one's taste buds. You can go take a walk down the beach, watch the sunset, hear the sound of the sea and feel divine. I shall definitely visit again....
