The sand was too white.
The sea was too warm.
The place was too neat.
The fruite were too sweet.
The food was too delicious.
The staff was too helpfull and warm.
The guide took too much efforts to take us where ever we wanted.
The place was just too peacefull and beautifull to be real.
I must have been dreaming.
And I'm affraid that comming back would be a wake up from the dream I once had about a peace of heavend on earth named Chera Rocks.

My wife and I were looking for a quiet place which is
surronded by trees, close to the beach, away from the crowd and which also served good food.
Chera rock beach house met our expectations and much more.

Our room was on one part of the beach house which is perched on a small ciff
overlooking a pristine and picturesque beach which is just a stones throw away.
There are no underwater currents and the water is clean and beautiful.
We took really long walks on the beach with no one around except the odd fisherman cleaning his nets and one or two small birds.

The food is simply amazing. We were served all the mouth watering local delicacies.
Since they are made keeping the european taste buds in mind the dishes
weren't as spicy as traditional south Indian dishes.
My personal favorites were the crab curry, the stuffed bannanas and mussesls.

The people appreciate your privacy and are very cordial.
They took us to watch "Theyyam" (religious dance form of Kerala) at the nearby temple.
This is quite an experience and a definite must for any culturally inclined visitor.

There are quite a lot of places to visit nearby such as the Kannur and Tellicherry forts,
the spice market, temples, churches and the famous handloom factories.

Its just been a month since we have been back and already we miss the murmur of the waves.

Located on a long white stretch of deserted beach with nothing but the sound of the waves and the local fishermen, Chera Rock Beach House offer a unique and peaceful spot for its visitors. We stayed in the cheaper and older bungalow located a couple of stairs up the beach with a terrasse that offered an incredible wiev over the palm trees and the ocean, which was half the price of the newer and more luxorious rooms directly on the beach and offered privacy and good value for money. The place is perfect for swimming, long walks on the beach, reading and relaxation, the food is good and the staff is nice and helpful. Leaving this place was very hard and we still miss to sit on the terrasse and enjoy an incredible friut juice or lassie after a long swim and to fall asleep to the sound of the ocean

Wow - loved it loved it! We had just three nights here (and the place all to ourselves) - service was impeccable!

The food was excellent and never ending - the local fishermen providing the fish that we scoff down ... dosas for breakfast, fish curry for lunch, more curry for dinner and fruit fruit fruit ...the fried bananas stuffed with coconut will never be forgotten!

The beach is long fine sand, backed by palm trees and frequented by the villagers, birds and little crabs scuttling around. The water is warm and calm ... idyllic!

Rooms are a few steps from the beach, I guess we were lucky to be on our own otherwise you are very close to the other guests. Everything you need is there and plenty of space.

Our only gripe was the mosque which is the nearest building in the village with its 5 times a day "shouts of praise" ... that and the fact that we had to leave!

Highly recommended!

Although I rather say it is specialty lodging and not a hotel I loved this place.
I went there for 4 days early May this year. Chera Rocks is one of the most wonderful places I have ever been to.Simple and cozy place surrounded by nature and serving great food.
The cottage is located right by the sea and I mean it. The water is barely 15 meters away. The whole place is established bearing the foreigners in mind: reading lights, wooden furniture, bathroom fittings. These things really count. The cottage is operating for several months only thus the whole place very new and clean.
The beach is awesome and very deserted. The company is small crabs and locals form the nearby fishermen village . Plenty of walk space (around 1,5 km of your “private space” both directions until you hit the rocks).
They pick you up from the station. Upon arrival we were asked what we would like to eat. We opted for fruits and fish. These things were served 3 times a day along with different meals prepared by the private cook and guard. Great food! You can get cooking classes too.
