“Not for light sleepers”
Reviewed March 5, 2014 via mobile

The noisest dingiest room Ive had at a hotel in a while. The hotel is located slap bang in the middle of two busy roads. The traffic is constant until 1am as well as youth banter and laughter from the downstairs bar. I think I just about managed two hours sleep when the traffic goes dead at night. Good breakfast though and friendly staff. Thats the only reason I give it an average.

We stayed at a B&B near by but ahd to move there as B&B was full. Rooms are OK for a 3*. Breakfast buffet is really good. Bus to town is around the corner. and there is laundry place next door. really a convenient place to visit Venice from. Staff is helpfull and nice. Plenty of parking around the back or in front. when we left hotel was closing for change of ownership... which may not mean a lot of change but...

We were billeted here prior to a cruise from venice. It was the usual con by the travel company ie staying in a hotel in Venice for two days! No, not VENICE but Favaro. They shouldn't be allowed to get away with this!
However, the hotel is clean and the en suite facilities absolutely fine. The rooms are very basic and we found the beds hard. The staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast ok but the dining room is very cramped, so get down early to bag a good table!
The route into Venice isn't as direct as it is from Mestre but there is a good tram service which will take you to Mestre station and there's a bus stop just around the corner if you fancy that method. Be warned though, the bus can be crowded and it's a good 20-25 minutes being hurled around corners! The bus drivers here don't take any prisoners!

Room Tip: Rooms at the front could possibly be noisy as the hotel is right on the road. Cars, trams and buses...

Comfortable and clean hotel located 30 minutes by bus fromthe centre of Venice. Ample/substantial buffet breakfast. Just be wary of buying the services offered i.e. trips, taxis these can be obtained cheaper elswhere e.g. a 20€ taxi ride cost us 30€ !!!

Room Tip: For a short break buy a 72 hour unlimited transport ticket from the Tabac opposite the hotel, the ti...

Just returned from a cruise holiday which included 2 nights at the Ducale. Here's what we thought...

The hotel
------------
The hotel is OK without being overly luxurious. No real complaints but the decoration in the bedrooms was a bit tired. Other than that the beds were comfortable and the ensuite facilities fine. The room also had a safe. Breakfast was better than expected with a wide range of cold meats/cheeses and cakes. Breakfast is served from 7 to 10, but if you get down at 9:30 then the waitress might have a bit of a grump!

The hotel has free wi-fi and one terminal that guests can use for free. Excellent English is spoken at reception.

The hotel is located in the outskirts of Mestre, so there isn't really very much around it at all. This is a bit of a drawback...

Evening Meals
-------------------
Not served at the hotel, but reception will recommend a very good restaurant about 5 minutes walk away. We ate here and a meal for 4 plus wine plus tip came to 80 Euros (2013). The restaurant is due East of the hotel and on the other side of the road (can't remember its name).

Transport between hotel and Venice
----------------------------------------------
Bus no 19 runs from outside the hotel into the Piazzale de Roma in Venice island. It runs every 15 minutes and the journey takes about 20 minutes. You can buy bus tickets in the shop (Tabacchi) just across the road from the hotel. You can either get the single bus ticket for 1.30 Euros, or if you intend to use the water buses in Venice you can tickets that last longer (we used 12 hour tickets that cost 18 Euros). These are good for buses be they on land or water.

Transport between hotel and airport
----------------------------------------------
Use the no 45 bus which runs twice an hour. When you arrive at the airport you can buy tickets from a machine in the baggage collection hall. Be careful to get ACTV tickets - you don't want the ATVO ticket. The bus fare will be 6 Euros.

All in all it was an OK hotel. If you're planning to do Venice on the cheap then its good value and convenient. If you've got a bit more money then stay in central Venice itself.

If you find yourself here as a pre-cursor to a cruise holiday don't worry it's fine. Also the hotel will be full of your fellow cruisers!

Stayed here for two nights pre cruise. Hotel Staff very helpful and friendly except fot the bar next door. With so many people from the UK staying here pre cruise the staff in the bar were very rude and food was revolting to say the least. Hotel too far for seeing a bit of Venice. Beds and quality of sleep were good but, our friends had a corner room with balcony and got no sleep due to heavy traffic all night long. If going on a cruise and this hotel offered to you try to upgrade to somewhere closer. Ok for the airport otherwise avoid. Breakfast was good and nicely presented.

Room Tip: Avoid corner balcony rooms above the bar.
