When we booked the Marco Polo Agriturismo (Farm Stay), I was afraid we would have a lot of airplane noise. That wasn't true. The B & B is literally minutes (less than 5) from the airport, but it is in a quiet neighborhood, and you have no idea there are planes nearby.
The family who owns this property is wonderful and caring. We were greeted very kindly on our arrival, given every consideration in our desires for breakfast, and helped out in figuring out the best way to travel back and forth to Venice. We had a car, but it was Carnevale, so we didn't want to park at Piazzale Roma because of the crowds. The family told us how to catch buses, use the vaporetto from the airport (we ended up using both).
Unfortunately, we were robbed (quite a long distance from Marco Polo), and Cinzia, one of the family owners, stepped right up with copies of our passports, information on locating U.S. consulates. She was so kind and thoughtful, and so happy when all of our documents were later located.
When we had to leave at 5:30 a.m. to catch an early flight, the family got up and made breakfast for us, which we absolutely did not ask for. They would have driven us to the airport, if we had requested it.
The building itself is new. All the rooms are spotlessly clean, with every amenity we could desire. The breakfast buffet was varied, and very good.
I have given full marks on all categories, except for sleep quality, because we never sleep as well in Italy as we do at home because the pillows and beds are just not the same -- but this is absolutely not the fault of the wonderful family at Marco Polo.
If we return to Venice, I will definitely stay at Agriturismo Marco Polo again. It is especially convenient to the airport, and costs much less than staying in Venice.
