clean, secure, friendly and well-managed.

it is more camp than hotel though, so the food service is minimal and not overly convenient. Food and drinks served are of acceptable quality.

Room Tip: book early

Sitting by the Nile under the thirty-foot mango trees before noon (i.e. before it gets too hot) on the weekends is one of my favorite Juba routines. The fact that it's the nicest place to stay in Juba is confirmed by the fact that this is where George Clooney stays when he's in town, which is more often than one might guess.

The food is more expensive than most restaurants in town, but Afex also as the best selection of fruits and vegetables than anywhere else in town and the rest of the food is consistently good for Juba.

I've been here for a couple months now and the staff has been very responsive when my A/C needed fixing, etc. It also has a relatively classy bar scene, i.e. not too many working ladies. I also live right near the bar and haven't been bothered by the sound at night.

A container in a really secure, pleasant place is a fine way to spend a visit to Juba. For $100 per night, I don't think you can get better. It includes laundry which is very convenient and fast. The restaurant is nice the staff is friendly. Sitting by the Nile is very pleasant.

The restaurant and bar are right on the river. Buffet dinner is about $20, pizza is $10, nothing to write home about, but people say it is normal; Juba is expensive. Beer is 6 to 8 SS Pounds, which is under $2. Nile is the best beer IMO. The bar is called D-Nile, get it?

Staying at AFEX has been fabulous esp because Juba is not the easiest place to be. AFEX accommodation was good more so for Juba quality. Fabricated container rooms go for $100 bed & breakfast although they have cottages which go for over $100 (can't remember the price). Staff are super friendly. Enjoy a nice sunset drink at their famous bar called d'Nile (gerritt???!)

Most people book longer stays so book way in advance as it can be challenging to get a room. Loved the bed! Laundry is also inclusive of the price, hot water is available, A/C available, DSTV (cable TV) available believe me these become small pleasures in Juba!

They have fabulous pizzas as well and the b/fast is pretty good on variety. There is brunch every Sunday which is simple gorge.

First, this is a camp--not a hotel. Second, I gave it five stars because compared to the so-called hotels in Juba, this "camp" is by far the most decent and relaxing place to stay in or around Juba.

I had a bungalow that amounted to a living room and a bedroom and bathroom. Fairly clean and very basic furniture with one light bulb in the ceiling for the whole room. Satellite TV works I'm told, but I didn't watch it. WiFi works throughout the compound more or less. You should get by fine and the staff are very responsive when you need anything.

Afex is one of the main security providers in Juba, so the camp is really a secure compound and you can feel safe here.

The mess-hall and bar are a lovely spot beside the Nile river and a truly lovely setting to enjoy the day or relax for the evening. Food was good, especially the pizza. Prices reasonable.

We drove around Juba one day looking for hotel options and nothing we found even came close to the Afex camp. I'll probably be going back one day, and will return to Afex Camp for sure.

I stayed in both an apartment (with my wife) and a container (alone). Both were fine but, if you are alone, the container is much better value and really not very expensive. Most of the guests are long-term (months to years!) and have lots of Sudan stories to tell. AFEX is well-located right on the Nile and quite close to Konyo Konyo Market. Good food, great bar and very helpful staff. I did not hear any noise from the bar next door.

Very well organised compound like a small town. An entire army of security staff, offices of every kind and a lot a westerners around. Propably has the best location by the Nile with shadow of huge mago trees. the rooms are prefabricated containers style , but before you rush to discard the idea , imagine them with shower cable tv , and strong individuall aircontition. I never believed that a container can be transformed in a such attractive room.
Dinner generous including 2 beers free!!! Food not outstanding but the Kenyan chef is doing his best. Esspesso coffe excellent with 1.50 USD .
Very good . I use it again .

Room Tip: the best location next to the river not far from city center
