“Intimate hostel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2011

The hostel has a very intimate atmosphere, the landlady is very nice and help you with everything. The lake is beautiful but I strongly recommend to go by car because the buses are a mess, nobody know where, when and if they pass.
A suggestion, if you looking for relax, taking care of yourself and go to St. Martin's Thereme, it's a real paradise ( book if you want massege), amazing bath inside and outside, different type of sauna etc...

The owner is very friendly, explaining us what to do, where to go... The breakfast is not served at the hotel (maybe because it was October and very low season) but at the owner's sister's hotel, 100yards down the road. The breakfast was AMAZING!! The room was nice and clean. The hotel is situated directly on the 'beach'. The sister's hotel has a nice restaurant rather 'sophisticated' but if you want typical food, go to the pub close to the Information Office on Hauptstrasse, and they also speak really good English. For wine, Sloboda is worth a try!!

4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2010

We spent the summer backpacking though east/central Europe, and wanted to have couple of days "break" from big cities on the the way from Budapest to Vienna and Bratislava. And Podersdorf was really perfect for that! It is a small "resortish" village, with a few hotels, restaurants, shops - all build around the very nice beach-area. There are lots of activity-options, such as biking, windsurfing, pedal-boating and mini-golfing - and of course the swimming-option is a great one.

We took somewhat of a chance with the Al Faro Lodge - since there was no recommendations on this page for example. But the hotel-pages looked nice - and they are actually quite true to the real life experience. Al Faro Lodge is really more like a hotel than a B&B though - the rooms are good, looks new and modern, with flat-screen TV, small but fair and clean bathroom, a large bed and a small balcony - only a few meters from the beach! The only bad thing about the room was that there was no air-conditioning, and it got really hot even in the night.

There is no breakfast either, but the building houses a nice restaurant/pizzeria/gelateria, which is fairly good on both pizzas and other stuff like breakfast and hot lunches. And the italian ice-cream is to die for! :) Just down the street is a great fish-restaurant with really good wine too.

Podersdorf is a typical holiday-place for families and bikers, and does not really have a party-scene, but if you are looking for a few days of total calm and relaxation, it is actually quite good. We could definitely see ourselves staying at AL Faro again.
