Good was definitely, in particular starters and pasta. Someone took meat, good-tasting but quantity was poor.
However, the bill we paid for the dinner was too expensive. Because of the price/quality ratio I would not recommend the restaurant

I recently and finally dined at the Cantina after trying in vain to find availability over the last three-four times we spent in the Sestiere area. It was my partner's birthday, so we didn't spare money on the dinner. We found it quite expensive, and food scarce and not appealing. Wine was the only item we appreciated, and the price is probably adequate for the quality. But again, food is not up to the Italian standards, neither is the way they cook it, and it is quite overpriced.

We have been going to Cantina degli Amici for the last few years, and it is always one of the highpoints of our stay. The food is dependably fabulous - and not just the standard Italian range of pastas and polentas (although they have that, too) - try the filetto al suino (pork fillet) with the crauti (like sauerkraut) or the glara (local potato dish) as a main, and as a starter, the robiolina (potato rosti, speck and a local creamy cheese) or the best zuppa di cipolle/onion soup I have ever tasted. The creme brulee is memorable... Try it all, it is all terrific! Patrick is always on hand, and has crafted a small but very good wine list, and will ply you with the local digestivi after your meal - watch out for the marinated sugar cubes...! This is not to be missed, but make sure to call ahead to reserve (and ensure they are open).
Incidentally, by day, Patrick helps to run Alpette, which is one of the best restaurants on the pistes in Sestriere.

we can't come back here often enough. The food is superb, the wine is cracking and the restaurant itself is so cosy and charming. It is absolutely worth taking the drive down from Sestriere to this little gem.

Patrick ti accogliera con specialità della montagna e vini piemontesi buonissimi.. vale assolutamente la pena di scendere da sestriere per mangiare in questo ristorante bellissimo.
