“Not how i expected it to be.”
Reviewed February 16, 2013

I stayed here for the night with my boyfriend, there was nothing nice to do in the town apart from sit in a quiet pub. The food was nice but that is all there was to do in the area. The room was very small and didnt feel clean. I have a dust allergy and did not stop sneezing & itching in the bed and in some places i could see the dust. At about 7pm we was fed up with the stay so we packed our stuff and decided to go home. I did not expect a £72 room to be in this way. The staff seemed nice and the shower was the best part about my stay. I will not be returning to this b&b as i only stayed for 4 hours and was not happy.

Dear Guest,

We are very disappointed to read your comments.
You checked in mid afternoon, stayed for four hours using all facilities, including the bed, and did not report anything to us until after leaving therefore not giving us the chance to investigate or resolve your issues.
We are in a village location adjacent to the Battlesbridge Antiques Centre, one of the largest and most popular in the country and there are two very good gastro pubs nearby, both very busy that evening as it was Valentines weekend. Perhaps a town centre hotel would have been a better choice for a young couple.
Our housekeepers are very contiensous and pride themselves on their work especially when it comes to cleanliness. Although we understand that improvement is always possible, the room has recently been refurbished to a high standard and was subsequently checked out by three staff and not found to be dusty or dirty. I sympathise if you have a dust allergy but we are confident that our room standards are equal if not better that simarlarly rated guest accommodation.

Regards,
Jim Gallie

5 star it is not but is very clean and comfortable.
We stayed there in February so it was not at it's best weather wise. Never the less we had a warm welcome by Georgi who gave us the run down on the local area.
The Battlesbridge antique centre was only partly open, even so there was enough to look at for an hour or so.Summer time would be a better time to visit as there are several quaint garden tea and coffee outlets.
The Barge Inn is one of two pubs within walking distance and served a good selection of beers. The dineing menu was good and we enjoyed a nice meal there.
We were served a very good Full English Breakfast, most enjoyable.
Very convenient for Southend Airport, Chelmsford etc.
Would recommend for a short stay and would stay there again.

Visited friends room briefly after night out @ The Hawk in Battlesbridge .
They were staying in a stable annexe room which was clean & well appointed if a little on the small side but looked very comfortable.
We were not able to see inside the main house as it was quite late, but that looked well appointed too.
The best part of fFrasers is its location right in the haeart of Battlesbridges Antiques & crafts village which would be the main reason for a short stay in the village & is well worth the trip.
It is also reasoably priced considering its location.

This small guest house is set in a small village at the head of navigation in the River Crouch in Essex. It is set midway between Chelmsford and Southend and has a single line rail link into central London. It has friendly staff and a cosy setting in this village turned antique centre. I have stayed here three times now and have always been very pleased with the room, price and service. Free parking and a quiet location make it perfect place for me to stay while visiting family in a nearby town. There are two pubs in the village, one of which used to be my local the other much bigger establishment serves excellent meals and a good range of beers within a couple of minute walk.

We stayed for a couple of weeks, a long time for a B&B, but can only say, we're made to feel very welcome. Rooms are comfortable. We first stayed in a room in the house, this was a little small, but very nice, perfect for a weekend. Then we moved to a stable room, this was a good size and even had a small seating area outside. Everyone was lovely, big thanks to Linda for the great breakfasts and good humor. The B & B is placed between two good pubs, both serving good food, it is also a short walk from the station, so London and all it offers is easily accessible.

This is the second time I have been to the Frasers Guest, and now I will not go to any other hotel in the local area. The owners are the nicest people you will meet, and they will always try and accommodate you. The rooms are lovely, and are a very high standard - especially considering the low price. I have paid £120 a night at a big chain hotel in the area, and this is so much nicer and quieter - it is so peaceful at the guest house. There are some lovely pubs within a few minutes walk of the guest house - I personally would recommend The Barge Inn which is a left down the road. You will find that the food is nicer, and the service is better as it is quieter than The Hawk pub which is a right down the road from the Guest House. The breakfast is probably the best I have had in a Hotel/Guest House. They cook it to order, and you can order anything from a full english to porridge! Book here now - you will not be disappointed!

Now my fourth visit since 2005 and one day I will make a 5th. The rooms are always beautifully kept, cleam and extremely comfortable. The breakfast are the best tasting. No matter whether you are speaking with Jim, Georgie or one of the team members, they are extremely friendly and helpful. The gardens are well kept and interesting. Quiet location.

I visit the local Antiques centre and visited the river side with the interesting boats. Take a visit to top of the Mill where you can enjoy a cuppa with far reaching views of the river and country side. I also visited Burnham on Crouch and Southend, well worth the trips. Both local pubs are interesting but this time I choose the Hawk, loved it!!

Stayed for two nights and had a lovely peaceful rest thanks to Frasers. Cant wait to go back

Room Tip: Very clean and comfortable
