Stayed here for 3 nights on a bike trip. Potes is brilliant, bang on for a bike trip, picturesque and quaint but with enough going on to grab a few beers or the obligatory cider!

Perfect hotel to base yourself at, lockup 5 mins down the road and right amongst the bars & restaurants. Roads in both directions are fantastic.

Stayed here 3 nights in September as part of touring Northern Spain. What a find, the hotel is wonderful with fantastic staff, food, atmosphere, it has it all.
Our room was on the second floor at the back of the hotel overlooking the river. I would suggest you ask for a room with a 'big' bed as I know that some rooms only have a 4'6" bed. Ours was two singles zipped together making the bed a decent 6'.
We only paid 45 euros a night and couldn't believe how good the hotel was. It had everything you needed in the bathroom, including toothbrushes, which you normally only get in a 5 star hotel.
I didn't expect a hairdryer, but there it was!
Food in the restaurant was really good and hearty and the staff were brilliant and so happy which gave the whole place a wonderful atmosphere.
Casa Cayo was smack bang in the centre of the old village. Parking was easy as there's a big car park round the corner.
Picos mountains is a wonderful place for walking. So much to see and do and 3 days was not enough.
Well done to all the staff, we will be back!

Room Tip: Room at the back of the hotel

Stayed 20-26 Sept 13. Booked purely on the basis of TripAdvisor reviews and certainly didn't disappoint!

Dead centre of the old part of Potes town with views from room and terrace across the central river gorge, the castle and straight up into the hills. Busy pedestrian street to front lined with cafés and bars but backing onto the river it is pleasantly quiet on the terrace and in the rooms no matter how noisy the town. Free car parking a 200m walk but can drive to within 30m of hotel.

Spotless rooms, well equipped and spacious. Would rate as 3*+. Residents sitting room and terrace very comfortable and quiet. Staff very accommodating; moved us in to a room with views as soon as one came available.

Downstairs in the the restaurant and bar the service is exceptional. Staff very friendly and engaging; they clearly enjoy running the place and dealing with customers. Menu is as you would expect for an area focused on the outdoors, hearty portions to say the least but cooked and presented to a high standard throughout. Fantastic value as well and there is always the option of tapas at the bar throughout the day which is useful if you're in and out at awkward times.

A thoroughly enjoyable stay; cannot recommend highly enough.

Room Tip: Rooms over the terrace have fantastic views and are cooler.

This small hotel really is as good as everyone says. We had the room at the back of the top floor with wonderful views over the old town and the Picos de Europa mountains (see photos by moonface67 and tracerWarwick). If you don't have that room you can take your drinks and nibbles to the balcony on the first floor that has the same view. The staff are friendly and helpful and well organised. The restaurant is good, with generous servings, and has an excellent and very reasonably priced wine list. For breakfast you can select tortillas and cakes from the bar.

I stayed here for 1 night in September 2013. As a coeliac, the staff here were fantastically accommodating, bringing me special bread & having no difficulty letting me know what I could & couldn't have (in contrast to a lot of other places I visited). Every time our drink was empty the friendly bar man was there to top it up, they insisted on carrying our bags to our room, and their whole attitude was friendly and good humored but not intrusive. This was the best service we had in Spain, hands down especially from the bar man Danny. Our room was very clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. The place has a bit of character, with a terrace to sit out on upstairs and a sitting room for public use, which might be nice for families. All for 45 euro a night-excellent value, would definitely go back and definitely recommend.

3 of us stayed here as a base for a motorbike holiday. An amazing experience with the hotel and area certainly living up to its billing. Great value, fantastic food and friendly staff.

Per previous reviews the owner allowed us to park in his garage which easily accommodated our bikes and 2 others. No additional charge.

Breakfast was very good, served at the bar with plenty of locals popping in which provided for a great atmosphere. Friday and Sat bar gets lively. An amazing place.

Great place to stay. Best restaurant in town and the heart of the town centre at night time. Really friendly staff and superb value. Rooms at the front above the bar can be noisy on Friday and Saturday nights so best to ask for a room at the back if you want an early night - otherwise 10 and a half out of ten!

Room Tip: Ask for one not above the bar at weekends
