We enjoyed a week at this blissful haven in the unparalleled Golden Bay area of Nelson, New Zealand and didn't want to leave.
We took a water taxi to the remote beach where the lodge is based and were stunned by the glorious green landscape, blue sea and white sand.
Nothing could have been better with the lodge either- we wandered up a short sand track and were thrilled with our huge, sunny, open room with modern designer furniture and wonderful bathroom.
The staff were very friendly and gave us chirpy hellos at every meeting. The restaurant is world-class and the wine and food were always delicious. There is a large wooden deck area which is always bathed in sunlight. The lodge is set amongst pretty marshland just a few metres from the sea. There is swimming, kayaking and trekking to do if you feel like leaving the resort, but we didn't.
I can't imagine anywhere more perfect or romantic.
