“Highlight of New Zealand”
Reviewed June 9, 2013

A large group of us took a 3 day kayak trip. This was definitely a highlight of the trip. Needless to say the scenery was spectacular. But what made the trip special was the staff. They looked after every need. They were fun, easy going, accommodated to our needs and were always safe. Each guide brought something special to the experience. The inn's that we stayed at were terrific way to end out days watching sunsets and sunrises the next morning. Totally worth the money!

“An amazing adventure”
Reviewed June 4, 2013

We turned up the day before as requested to finalise details of our 4 day kayaking / walking trip. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient and issued us with information and holdall bags for our luggage. On the next day we found we were the only people on that trip so had the guide to ourselves. He was brilliant, explaining about kayaking (which we had never done before so were a little apprehensive), helping us stow items on / in the kayak, taking us at our own pace, pointing out wildlife and telling us about the stunning coastline and the history along the way. It was good to see that he took particular care to ensure that the wildlife (eg seals) were not disturbed and challenged others we met ng the way who were disturbing them. He found us lovely secluded beaches to pull up for rest and lunch stops and little diversions for piints of interest. The 2 lodges on the trip were amazing - wonderful views, clean, luxuriously comfortable, great food and lovely staff. At the first one we had 2 staff plus our guide to ourselves so we all ate together. At the second there were another couple so we had to "share" our staff! Even if there had been a full complement of guests it would have been absolutely fine. At the end there was a smooth transfer back to our start point in one of Wilsons boats which was excellent. An absolutely amazing trip with a company we would definitely use again. It's a long way to go but I hope we get the chance.

Thank you for your review. It certainly is a treat to have all the staff to yourselves. As you note, the trip is just as good with a full house but our team can be just as entertaining as fellow travellers. We hope you make it back for a second trip.

“Beautiful day out”
Reviewed May 22, 2013

My partner and i booked onto the beaches, bays and seals full day kayaking tour. On arrival, we met our guide Adam and the rest the group. We jumped on a small little boat for a short ride up to the bay. It was a little cold on the boat and we couldn't hear anything they where saying but they give you a brochure so you can read it. After that, the rest of the day was perfect. We where lucky to have a stunning day with the weather, our group where all chatty people and Adam was a super guide. Abel Tasman is a breathtaking place and to kayak along the water front is defiantly one the best ways to view it. We also got to see many seals out on Pinnacle Island. Overall, a fantastic day out, worth every penny.

“Fabulous day trip”
Reviewed May 16, 2013

Peter and Marion our hosts at Clayridge House organised this trip for us. Wilsons use a sensible sized boat - not huge, so everyone could stand on the deck and get some decent snaps of the views. Good commentary providing history and information en route. We anchored up just a little out to sea at Torrent Bay and had to paddle to shore! Felt like a Robinson Crusoe adventure. We then chose to walk for a couple of hours following the coast through Abel Tasman NP. What stunning views, many idyllic bays with deep aqua blue water. We rested on a beach (Bark Bay) and had our picnic and waited for the boat back to Kaiteriteri. A grand day out!

“Abel Tasman is a Must Visit”
Reviewed May 15, 2013

Abel Tasman was one of my favorite spots on my Trip to NZ and I wish I had had more than 1 day there. Still it was a perfect day. We took Wilson's shuttle out into the park. Water taxi is the best way to get in and out of the park unless you are looking to do overnight camping/hiking. We spent about 40 minutes traveling up the coast before getting off on a beautiful white sand beach. We then spent about 3 hours on a guided sea kayaking trip which was beautiful. My only complaint is I wish I would have had more time to enjoy the beach before the water taxi returned to pick us up. Give yourself at least 2 full days here. Use one to try a hand at sea kayaking. We got to see baby fur seals and travel through caves. And spend another day at leisure either on the beach or hiking. I would definitely go back to Abel Tasman.
