Stayed here for ten days over the Christmas and New year period. What a find - despite appalling weather (it was December) the beauty of the place and the kindness of our hosts made the holiday for us. Warm and cosy but plenty spacious for four adults, Didworthy House offers a great deal. From the moment of arrival Sue's welcoming touches (for us mince-pies, chocolates, Sparkling wine AND a fully grown real Christmas tree!) ensure the feel good factor is not disappointing. Nothing was too much trouble. Walks on to the moors start here and there is plenty to do and see in the surrounding area. Definitely a great find and thanks to Sue and Steve for making us so welcome.

This was a wonderful find. Located on Dartmoor it had a fantastic location with natural beauty all around. The garden even has a babbling stream at the bottom. Sue was very helpful seeing us in & out & giving us guidance. Although seemingly remote (you need a car) South Brent is only 5 minutes drive away & has all amenities. We stayed in Seashore (3 bed) & it was very comfortable & cosy with helpful items included (dishwasher tabs, cling film etc) and we were very appreciative of the pint of milk & clotted cream tea welcoming us! We plan to return in the summer & make some use of the pool!

A need for a quiet holiday led us to didworthy house and how glad we were when we arrived to discover it was exactly what we wanted. The house is beautifully located in a lush valley with the river at the bottom of the garden and from the heated outdoor pool you have an unbroken view across to the fields in the distance. We stayed in the 1 bed room apartment which is very spacious and well maintained by the owner Sue who left us home made scones, jam, cream and a bottle of wine on our arrival. The house is perfect for anyone wanting to get away from it all (although there is free wifi, phone signal is not consistent-but that is not unusual in this part of the country thanks to the rolling hillsides!). we have already recommended Didworthy to friends and family and will definitely go back!

We are a family of four (Kids aged 5 and 10) from South London who wanted some accommodation that had a quiet relaxing feel, must have a pool but also be reasonably close to all the attractions that we inevitably wanted to go to throughout the week.
We chose Didworthy house and it turned out to be pretty much ideal.
Some reviews have mentioned the slim lanes to get to the property. From the nearest town, South Brent (which is lovely, nice bakery/tea room, co-op, the Oak inn which had great food etc) you take a road which leads straight to the house. There are quite a few passing places and unlike where we live, everyone has manners and are only too happy to back up if you don't feel comfortable reversing. You go over a beautiful little bridge over a waterfall and follow a river to the top. My other half really quite enjoyed that aspect of the journey as did the kids.
We were met by Sue and Steve who are very accommodating and only to happy to help in any local queries you have.
The pool is lovely and clean with not a roaming leaf in sight. We had sunny weather but still felt the pool could do with being slightly warmer although that's probably more due to us being not used to swimming in anything other than indoor pools. Stunning views from the pool area.
Our kids loved...River Dart Country Park (esp the water zorbs), Woodlands family theme park, Plymouth Aquarium, Blackpool sands is stunning and Hope cove is great for a days rock pooling and chilling out.
We would definitely stay here again, good accommodation, good service, lovely scenic area and all close enough to everywhere we needed to go.
Thanks Sue and Steve.

We (husband, wife and our daughter stayed at Didworthy house for a week in july. We were in Orchards, a lovely apartment, with upstairs bedrooms and bath. We were warmly welcomed by Sue and Steve and enjoyed the cream tea with home made scones. It was a beautiful week, so we could make good use of the pool and had our dinner in the garden. From the house you can make wonderful walks into Dartmoor (the Avon Dam is about 1 hour away). Sue and Steve are very nice and helpful people who make you feel really at home. The access road is a narrow one, but once you are used to driving it, it's ok. We hope to come back some time!

Room Tip: Orchards is perfect for a family with up to two children, perhaps less appropriate for 2 couples, be...

We stayed in 'Orchards' for one week: my husband, myself and our two small children. We were not lucky with the weather, which meant we were not able to make as much use of the heated outdoor swimming pool and beautiful surrounding countryside as we would have liked.

The owners were extremely helpful in arranging our stay and upon arrival; the homemade cream team when we arrived was a really lovely touch. The property was clean, comfortable, really well equipped, and provided everything we needed for our stay.

The second bedroom in Orchards is accessed through the first bedroom, which we knew when booking, but is a small downside.

Didworthy House is in a hamlet (Didworthy) which is a long 'mile' up a narrow lane from South Brent. If you are familiar with Devon lanes, this should pose no problem, but if like me you are not especially keen on reversing down narrow lanes to find a passing space, then this is also a bit of a downside. There are no shops or pubs within walking distance. The nearest shops etc are in South Brent.

We would stay here again, especially if we felt confident of good weather!

My family stayed for one week and it was fantastic. Easy access to the moor although we were lucky with the weather. We walked straight from the house onto the moor. We were a little disappointed we didn't get our cream tea on arrival as stated in the material on the website but a top place to stay and we hope to go back again.
