“Pleasant”
Reviewed August 16, 2014

Had a quick drink and piece of millionaires shortbread in this pleasant restaurant before visiting the walled garden. Plenty of space, comfortable chairs and table arrangements. Very clean with polite ladies serving. Interesting pictures on the walls. The food was a little on the pricey side but no dearer than any similar establishment., eg the millionaires shortbread and a pot of tea for one (we always share as I do not eat/drink much) was £4.
Good for a one off and added to the walled garden experience.

“All Hail, Scampston Chocolate Cake!”
Reviewed August 3, 2014

You know how it is, you order what looks like lovely moist piece of chocolate cake, but when you try it, it's a big disappointment? Well, not this time baby! Gorgeous moist cake with a thin layer of caramel and other filling, and a Rolo on top (maybe its Rolo cake?), anyway top marks. Scampstom Mess was great too, and the coffee just fine. We'll be back for more, especially as you can call without need to pay to see the house & gardens (closed Monday).

“Attractive tearoom in a lovely setting.”
Reviewed June 28, 2014

Attractive tearoom in the grounds of Scampston Hall. Usual light snacks with a few more substantial specials. Self-service works efficiently and staff are very friendly. Nice outside seating area with views over the gardens. Elderflower cordial to die for!

Easy access. Light ,airy and modern with friendly staff. The menu was rather limited but everything was very good quality especially the Gardeners Lunch! Well worth a visit.

“Fresh and beautifully tasty.”
Reviewed May 13, 2014

We had lunch here today. Beautifully modern cafe/tearoom in the grounds of Scampston Gardens. Lovely staff. Good choice of locally sourced food and drink.

I had a locally made little pork pie with piccalilli and salad. It was the tastiest, most moist pie I have ever eaten. I enjoyed the piccalilli although I usually avoid it, but this was fresh and clean tasting and the salad tasted as if the leaves were just out of the ground. My husband had the Gardeners Lunch which comprised ham, pie, cheese and salad. He really enjoyed it too. We had a 750ml carafe of elderflower cordial to accompany our meal which was lovely.

All in all a smashing lunch, and I would thoroughly recommend that you pop in as it is just off the A64 between Scarborough and Malton. And the gardens are nice too!
