These gardens are in various styles form formal to parkland, a good hours entertainment. Cafe on site as ever but it is expensive so take sandwiches unless you have deep pockets

My wife loves it here, and on a warm sunny day, it is a beautiful place to visit. It is a delight to walk round the garden, which has an abundance of pretty little areas to admire. There are seats to rest on, bees, birds, and butterflies everywhere, and a mound which you can climb to admire the view.
The cafe is very nice, and the toilets are clean.
If you are feeling energetic, you can walk round the parkland too, which I would recommend.

The Walled Garden lived up to all expectations with its modern layout and planting by superb Dutch plantsman Piet Oudulf. Pick up the plant guide and follow the suggested directions for the best feel of the garden. As a complete contrast, do also follow the cascade walk around the surrounding landscaped area.

We had lunch in the light and airy restaurant, the sun was shining in and tables and parasols were set up outside. The Scampston fish cake was very tasty as were the very full ham sandwiches mum and dad had too!
We walked around the beautiful gardens taking in all the stunning planting, lots still in full flower aided by our plant guide!
Oh yes then time for afternoon tea :)
Lovely home baked cakes of which there was a large selection and generous portions served.
Could possibly say the food a little expensive but worth it for a lovely day out in stunning surroundings. .
Closed on Mondays.
