Have been here a few times for both lunch and dinner. Had a quick look on their website for the menu but a little disappointed as there were cold and hot sandwiches and a few other relatively simple choices. We decided to go anyway. There is a dining room but we chose to eat in the bar area. A nice bar, not too noisy for dining.

Fortunately the website info was incorrect. There was a good lunch menu with steak, fish and chips, gammon, roast of the day and salmon amongst others. Also a good selection of starters and desserts. We both had steak pie which came with chips, a good selection of vegetables and a pot of gravy. The steak pies are in individual serving dishes. The pie filling was especially delicious but everything else was cooked very well, noticeably the vegetables (I think 6 in total) which were tasty and had a little crunch to them. We just had a main course on this occasion but previously starters and desserts have always been up to the same standard.

The staff are always friendly and it's a lovely location.

Can't fault them apart from the website info. It needs updating. We were nearly put off going today because of this. When raised we were told if in any doubt to call them and they'd be happy to email a menu. Not sure why it's not much higher on the rankings for Malton. Will be back again soon.

Lovely ambience especially in small restaurant, great service and superb food reasonably priced. Wine much cheaper by bottle

Met with a friend for lunch before Christmas, it was very busy but service was still good. Nice cosy seating and food was good. Would definitely return and recommend.

The hotel is a delightful building with log fires, views across the lawns to fields and wonderful, smiling staff. We were there for two nights over New Year and dined in. The dining room is a slight disappointment with bare tables and paper napkins, harsh overhead lighting and wooden flooring, but the food was very good and the waiting staff attentive.

Beautiful old Elizabethan building. Drinks first in the bar nr a real big open fire. Dining decorated in a modern style unfortunately feeling a little soulless. Service was extremely slow, had to keep reminding them we were waiting, first courses came after 20mins, v nice quality, second course an hour by this time I was ravenous as I had not had a starter. The waitress apologised before I could complain and said she had taken the drinks off the bill, felt a little disappointed as we had only had two slimline tonics and one beer. I decided to break no the matter up with the manageress who dealt with it extremely well and reduced our bill by half, which was very much appreciated. The food was excellent and we will return but I will be more quicker if there is a delay.
