The Old Lodge is exactly what it says. From the moment you drive into the car park you know that something is different. The atmosphere was very cosy on a busy lunchtime. All our fellow diners were clearly enjoying what looked to be a wide variety of well presented dishes from sandwiches to more substancial. The service was excellent and my ham sandwiches were superb with real ham and my preferred Dijon mustard. My friends lunch was just as good finished off with excellent coffee My only reservation as a person who does not drink is that having ordered a Coca Cola was to be given a glass of sweet brown fizzy water - if I had ordered a Glenmorangie Whisky would I have been given a glass of Asda Whisky, I suspectnot

Our first visit to The Lodge will definitely not be our last. They manage to combine friendliness with
Understated efficiency. The bar had a great atmosphere and the spacious dining room had a warm feel about it. There was a decent choice to choose from on the Sunday lunch menu. I chose the lightly battered calamari and a combination of lamb, pork and rare beef for main - very well cooked and tasty meats. Unsurprisingly I could not manage a dessert. The extra gravy always scores highly. Service was faultless and attentive. A memorable lunch.

A reasonable main course spoiled by a poor, cardboard sweet. Grubby carpets in the dining room and average service. I won't go again.

Very attractive surroundings as the Old Lodge must be one of the finest old buildings in Malton. The bar area isoak panelled and cosy; the restaurant not too crowded with tables and the service very good.
The food is well presented and the menus are excellent.
If you want to eat in a well-run, good food restaurant, this ius where you want to be!
