Eden camp is a ex pow camp turned in to a world war two museum.
It is well laid out in a fun way for the kids using the old camp barracks to fit all the exhibits in too.
If I had one complaint,
and don't view this as a complaint,
there is such a wealth of information there is no way to fit it all in.
Some people might find the smells of the past a bit off putting.
And yes the dummies are a bit dated,
but wait till you see the trench and submarine exhibit :)
Well worth the six quid odd admission price :)

A family trip to Eden Camp, was expecting to stay a few hours but loads to do and we were there all day! Very reasonable prices for entry and food etc once inside. Interesting and educational, highly recommended.

on the way home from a few days away at flamingoland, we decided to stop again at eden camp(we last visited about 4 years ago). although a good mueum, it hads not changed/evolved since last time, so the kids were a bit bored. on the plus side, drinks and ice cream were reasonably priced and the kids liked the shop. also beware that eden camp must be the only place in the uk that doesnt take card payments, si if like us the entry was £35 you need to find a cash machine beforehand.

Attended a car rally which happened to be held at the Eden Camp which was our first visit. As an overview of our day we spent almost the whole of it taking in the delights of the camp and less than an hour studying the cars.
Eden camp is an ex prisoner of war camp (for Italian detainees) captured in WW2 in the Heart of the North Riding of Yorkshire. It's exhibits concentrate on the various 20th century conflicts in which Britain was involved with a slight overlap into the gulf war's.
It utilises the old barrack rooms (33 in all) to display various themes and periods using text, models, film / photographs and diorama's with appropriate use of sounds and olfactory triggers, all serving to put one in the period. In addition there are a large number of military vehicles and weapons plus fighter aircraft.
The normal utilities are all present and well signposted and a very good café is to be recommended.
The youngsters present all seemed to be enjoying their visit and were interacting with the various interactive exhibits. The only other thing I would have liked to see was a display of how the POW's lived.
PS the classic cars were good too!

We went to Eden Camp with grandparents and children (12 and 10), which is quite a tough challenge for any visitor attraction! I needn't have worried, there is so much to see and the nuclear bomb was a real trump card. The museum has been lovingly put together in bite-sized chunks, without being at all superficial. We particularly enjoyed seeing the u-boat and the reconstruction of the gun turret of the Halifax bomber (which my Grandmother used to make).

I thought the cafe was quite pricey, especially as there were no sandwiches or other snack options. We ended up with authentically old-fashioned soup and a Cornish pasty. The shop was interesting, also not cheap. Biggest draw-backs: no family ticket, whole place is cash only.

Overall, a great day out for any age.
