“Quick Stop”
Reviewed August 1, 2011

I stayed for one weekday night in July as I had a business meeting nearby. After driving up from Kent via central London I was quite tired and therefore pleased to find the room to be very clean and the bed comfortable. It had a relaxing armchair to sit with an enjoyable pint of Wold Top beer and watch TV. The breakfast was very good quality with a lot of choice (though I was not keen on the cereals that were all in uncovered bowls). I had a very tasty and reasonably priced evening meal in the pub and the staff were friendly and helpful. Therefore, for a quick one-night stop it was excellent. The only slight niggle is that for some reason I was given the outbuilding (no. 10) with the disabled bathroom. This is fine but at 6 feet (not excessive) I had to stoop awkwardly to use the mirror (there is plenty of room for a full length mirror and I hope the owners will install one). I will be attending another meeting next month and will definitely stay here again.

All the Staff were very polite and efficient. The room was above expectations.
The English Breakfast was of the highest order. If we are in the area again we would not hesitate to book our place at the Cresswell Arms. There was nothing to dislike and everything to enthuse about.

Room Tip: We were in room 9 - this was more than adequate

Mum, dad, 7 year old daughter and dog stayed in the family suite and grandparents stayed in a twin room for one night on a trip to Scarborough and Helmsley. Everyone thought Cresswell Arms was excellent. Initially I was a little concerned about the price (only a little) and would have preferred something maybe 10% cheaper, but now I feel we got value for money and have no regrets. Parents and dog owners take note: your loved ones are welcome! The family suite has an integral children's room with toys and second TV, there are games and drawing stuff in the bar and there's a lovely green lane right on the doorstep (just off the carpark) for dog walks - please clean up! The whole place is tasteful, comfortable and welcoming. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Had a few ideas where to go for a few days for the wifes birthday treat so decided this looked good . Was not disappointed . Although it is only a 4 minute ride into Malton it felt like it was miles from anywhere and as we both like our walking it was perfect . The only (selfish i know) down side i happen to like traditional beers and Tom (the owner who seemed to be elusive but his partner was sweet & curtious) had not got any in stock , and i was not the only disappointed customer . However it did not spoil our stay there as the food was excellent , bedrooms big and the showers spotless . And the big plus a few walks started from the car park and take you to the superb location of Howards Castle and The Howardian Hills....can't say when i will be back but i certainly will be .

Stopped at Creswell Arms as my Partner was playing in a Bnad to celebrate a 60th Birthday Party at the Malton Golf complex. Rooms fantastic clean and the most impressive shower power going! Food second to none and the staff were absolutely brilliant. Breakfast in the morning was quite exceptional! When you ordered in both our cases tea and coffe it was a Pot of Coffee and a very nice large teapot! Breaksfast great massive choice quite unebelivable for a out of the way hotel .... Rooms very very clean and lovely fluffy towels and fresh bedlinen which to us is paramount. We are both experienced travellers from UK to Europe and have to say this was excellent. I ordered a bar snack a sanddwich and it was presented with the most beautiful fresh chips and a salad. I dont eat chips at the best of times but MY My! they were wonderful! I would recommend this hotel and deffo a 7 star and will return to the Creswell if in that part of the world again ......... most pleasing!
