“Wonderful place with a warm welcome”
Reviewed October 15, 2016 for a stay in September 2016

From the moment we stepped through the door of the apartment we felt its cosy atmosphere. The combined sleeping and living areas are very spacious so you do not feel that you are actually in a studio at all. The room is very comfortably furnished with good quality furniture and ornaments that enhance the homely feel. The separate kitchen is well organised and is very adequately equipped; washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, cleaning products, dishcloth, scour pad and tea towels are also all provided. There is even tea and coffee and various other grocery items so if you are going to do some catering we'd suggest checking the cupboard before getting your shopping in. The dining area off the kitchen has a lovely country cottage feel and looks out onto the pretty, very private, courtyard terrace which you can access from this room (we often caught sight of the little blue tits and a robin that frequent the trees and shrubs that surround the terrace whilst having our breakfasts). The shower room off the main room has been nicely fitted, the shower area has a good powerful shower fitting and there is a constant supply of hot water from the combi boiler. Internet access is good and free to use. The whole of the interior is well maintained and very clean. Outside, the owner's garden is lovely with its very large lake, it is very private and you are free to use it, in fact the Information folder in the apartment informs you that there are deckchairs in the garage should the weather be kind enough! Apparently there is also a second washing machine installed in the garage that you can use to wash any muddy/heavily soiled clothing so if you are into trekking/fishing, etc., you don't have to worry about how to launder them, you can also store boots, outdoor clothing, etc. there. The location of the apartment is good too, with Sainsbury's just three minutes away; there are good pubs locally (we had a very nice meal at the Castle Inn - directions in the Information Folder) and Congleton itself is a pleasant town with some nice shops. There are many nice walks, both from the apartment and in the surrounding areas, and there are plenty of places of interest to visit. We visited Tatton Park but we didn't go in the house or gardens as we felt the cost rather excessive, however we went to Biddulph Grange and really loved it - the gardens are really lovely and extremely well tended. Last but far from least, I must say a few words about the owners of this lovely accommodation. They are both very kind, helpful and friendly and Hilary, who we saw most of, is a really lovely lady. She is so thoughtful and will go that extra mile to make sure your stay is as comfortable and enjoyable as she can. Her personal touch was evident in the fresh flowers in the dining room, a pint of milk in the fridge, a very comprehensive Information Folder and the welcome gifts that were very much appreciated. A lot of thought and effort has been put into creating this great accommodation, we certainly couldn't think of a single thing that we could need, and when we are in the area again we will definitely stay there. We wholeheartedly recommend Dane Cottage and hope that it won't be too long before we can return. Thanks Hilary for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay and all the best for the future.

“Home Away From Home”
Reviewed July 24, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Our third stay here, this time for 4 weeks and it was still not long enough. We love returning to Dane Cottage, not only because of the excellent accommodation and great location (close to airport, local facilities, country walks, country houses etc) but also because of the care and friendliness of the owners, Hilary and Andrew. Their main concern is always for us to have the most brilliant and relaxed holiday and this is achieved with total aplomb. It takes a very special place and people to make you feel like you are in the comfort of your own home and on holidays all at the same time. And of course, we look forward to another stay. We cannot rate this cottage highly enough. It is a true gem of a find. We still want to give this accommodation 6 stars!

“Comfortable Tranquility”
Reviewed June 19, 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Dane Cottage is a delight on so many levels, not least is the care that Hilary, the owner, shows her 'guests'. The accommodation is to the very best standards of quality, space and facilities. Outside is a private seating area for guests own use together with free access to the whole garden, which includes the perimeter of the lake, a most extensive, picturesque and tranquil environment.

The cottage will suit those who just wish to relax without travelling beyond its tranquil bounds to others who want to pursue more active pursuits, whether they are walking, visiting local hostelries or sightseeing - its just great.

“Magical! and Romantic..”

This was our second stay at Dane Cottage and we were welcomed like old friends. the cottage is spotless and very well equipped with quality amenities. The setting is beautiful, from the private garden you have easy access to the fishing lake, it is nice to take a stroll passing the garden which shows off Andrew and Hilary's labour of love. It is a great place for couples looking for a romantic retreat, we stayed for two nights but would love to have stayed longer.
If you are a real ale lover i would recommend a 20 min walk into town to visit The Young Pretender bar where you will be spoilt for choice. If you turn left out of Dane Cottage and take a short uphill walk you will reach the local Coach and Horses, staff are friendly and on a sunny day its a pleasure to sit in the garden as the views are lovely.
The Three Horeshoes Spa is worth a visit , it is a small scale spa but has lots of different packages on offer, it is a picturesque 20-25 minute drive.

Dane Cottage is a special place , we will take great pleasure in revisiting again soon.

“A lovely country cottage.”
Reviewed May 4, 2016 for a stay in May 2016

The cottage was warm, clean and tidy. Very well equipped from washing machine to hair dryer. The garden is a quiet haven, shame the weather stopped us totally enjoying the space.
I would highly recommend this cottage and the local area.

“Mrs”
Reviewed March 11, 2016 for a stay in February 2016

This is a delightfully quiet cottage within easy reach of gorgeous countryside and interesting places to visit. The cottage is beautifully appointed with many more amenities than normal - even a selection of spices, milk, cereal and a "welcome" bottle of wine for weary travelers! Hilary and Andrew made sure we were comfortable and made us feel like old friends. Being a chilly February it was wonderful to come "home" to this cosy oasis.
There are many good pubs in the area providing excellent meals. However, it is advisable to make reservation so that you are not disappointed.
