A stunning mid 19th Century hotel beautifully re-stored & saved by the owners. The gardens are gorgeous & the location excellent, the wonderful Astbury Church & Little Moreton Hall are very close. Quite a few of our guests stayed one or two nights, many of them were very seasoned world travellers & they were all very impressed with the rooms, some of the other guests were, apparently, Olympic officials! The meal was excellent, prepared on the premises & the service was welcoming & relaxed. The atmosphere, staff & attention paid by the owners played a large part in what was a wonderful day. It also has its own little museum! A lovely place. Regards David Booth

Stayed twice. Just one night each time. Really nice (and i do get to stay at some very nice/very expensive hotels on business) and certainly worth the money. I will stay there again quite willingley. No complaints at all.

We stayed one night with our son and his wife. Very helpful staff, the rooms had all facilities and were individual with plenty of space. Free parking. Great breakfast. The restaurant was very inviting for dinner, but as we had events planned, we could not sample...maybe another time.

Room Tip: We had two rooms, on different aspects of the hotel. They were individual, but quiet, excellent beds, with plenty of space. We booked the upgraded rooms, but these were not much more than the standard

This hotel was booked as a stop-over on route to Scotland. As such, it's geographical location was of primary importance, and a reasonable standard of room was all that was anticipated.

But what a fantastic surprise! A lovely, huge, extremely comfortable room awaited, and the staff were absolutely brilliant. A very reasonably priced bar was an added bonus.

The hotel was spotless. Lack of a set menu pushed the restaurant a tad the wrong side of expensive just for an overnight bolt hole, which seems daft, as if we'd eaten in,the hotel would also have sold a couple of bottles of wine and made a little more money. As it was, the restaurant remained empty, which is a shame as the dining room is very attractive.

(The town has several eateries, all within an easy stroll.)

Congleton itself has a couple of nice parks to wander round, and it did make the ideal stop off point for our journey.

Breakfast was more than adequate, without being especially noteworthy.

But what elevates this hotel to a 5 star recommendation in my opinion, is that it is extremely good value (restaurant not considered), and you would be hard pushed to get a better deal anywhere in the area.

I will definitely be staying there again!
