I booked well in advance to make sure that we would be well catered for as we are both vegetarians, and one of us is Gluten free,I was told by the receptionist that this would be no problem.
We arrived sunday 30th March 2014 we were impressed with the location and room,
But we were very disapointed at the location of were the meals were being served, in a dark and gloomy basement, the staff were pleasant on the first night, and then to our disapointment there was only one vegetarian dish, which was also gluten free,So that was ordered for my partner,I did not want the Mushroom Risotto so I asked for a Salad for my main meal,
The mushrooms in the Risotto were cut tiny and you could count in one hand "Tasteless", my salad did not fare much better, all I had on my plate was lettice leaves tomatoes small amount of cubed cheese I then complained to the waiter who was serving us and he passed our complaint onto the chef and manager, we were given a complementary glass of wine, the chef came to our table and asked us what we would like the next evening and he would order the ingredients to make the main dish, but this was not to be, as we found out, first we had to wait as there was no tables at the time I booked for, we had to wait in our room till we got a phone call, and when we told the waiter that our meal had been ordered the night before as the chef had prepared for us, the waiter came back and told us the Gluten free meal had been prepared but not the vegetarian dish, so I picked off the one option off the menu, that was no better very little ingredients, my parteners consistered of a "stack" which was parsnip, harve a carrot, couple of slices of roasted red pepper, and a bit of Kale nicely presented, but only a childs portion,we complained to waiter but not interested
The meals we were served lacked taste and quality and quantity and the place they were served in did not deserve to be called anything but a cafe, extremely disappointed
We will not be going back, the owners want to take note and make some much needed changes,it would be a real shame to lose custom, good location, grounds are lovely, building was too' but its not enough
