We stayed as a family of four with 2 grandparents in tow for 4 nights. On arrival the chalet was very clean and Ron had very kindly left milk in the fridge and some yogurts for the kids. Ron also popped round later to make sure everything was okay which was a nice touch. There is a good selection of dvds just in case the weather is unkind and overall the chalet is very well equipped, comfortable with a nice spot to sit outside if it's nice - our daughter was instantly glued to small pink chair as well!
The site overall is quite small but was nice, well kept and our 6 yr old soon made pals to play with. The shop at the entrance to the site has just about anything you will ever need with a small cafe attached to it.
Boat of Garten itself is a lovely wee place with another cafe and post office come shop. We were unable to book a table at Andersons Restaurant despite a phone call and message left to them earlier in the day. We did try the local hotel and after having read a few dodgy reviews about it can honestly say we had a lovely pub meal, staff being very accommodating and friendly.
Location wise it is great for Aviemore, the highland wildlife park, Cairngorms, Landmark Adventure park all being a short drive away with of the advantage of being able to avoid the A9 as well. For railway fanatics Boat of Garten has a station for the Strathspey Railway just next to the hotel. There are lots of nice walks locally although we never saw any ospreys!
We would highly recommend staying here, the chalet has everything you need and it's great value. It's in a great location for exploring this beautiful part of Scotland and we had a wonderful time. Thank you Ron and Helen.
The location is amazing, a lot of places to visit and see nearby. In the chalet we found everything we wanted (we travel with a 5 mouth child). Great place to stay.
Located in a very decent static home site, this property easily assumes the title of "chalet". There are very few caravans now, about 2 or 3. This is an up-market site filled with lots of kind decent people who chat easily about their day.
My wife and I and our two children had a couple of days in this delightful chalet. The accommodation is top quality, nothing looks tired or used, on the contrary, it all looks fresh and clean. Everything works, from the central heating to the telly which boasts a sharp HD picture with a good array of channels to watch. The bedroom telly shows dvds (provided) which my youngest aged 6 said were great. The lounge area is ample with loads of space for 4 without being cramped at all. Very comfortable L-shaped sprawling sofa with a single lounging chair and bean bag. The dining area is similarly ample, well-equipped, and fit for purpose.
The facilities are very well-appointed.
Ron and Helen are very good at what they do with a nice balance of attentiveness without intrusion - a bit like an excellent waiter, there when you want, otherwise invisible. The welcome pack comes with a range of beverages including fresh milk and biscuits, perfect for tea on arrival.
We did some hiking in the Cairngorms, visited Landmark Centre, loch an Eileen and Coylumbridge activity centre. Loads to do around here and a perfect location. We bought provisions from the Coop in Grantown which offers a biggish supermarket facility.
I really can't say enough about this.
Overall, I'd give this ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for location, accommodation, welcome, community and will visit again.
This was an absolute bargain for the price.
I booked the chalet on a whim, I didn't really do any research either, my wife and I just needed a few days away. This was perfect and a massive surprise.
The chalet was extremely comfortable, we loved it. Ron popped around to welcome us and to make sure we'd settled ok. He'd supplied the milk and the biscuits for the tea.
I don't think I've ever felt quite so welcome at anywhere we've stayed before, the only thing we were unhappy about was having to leave so early!
Thanks Ron, looking forward to coming back.
Fantastic accommodation. Ron & Helen extremely helpful and accommodating. Very cosy and homely Chalet. Lots of space, very comfortable. Beds very comfy. Lots of room in fridge/freezer. Kitchen is good. Had a fantastic stay. Will definitely return again.
