We enjoyed a lovely meal in the restaurant. The service was excellent and the food was superb. The only negative was the couthie Scottish music. Marching pipe bands followed by the Bay City Rollers does not create a relaxing atmosphere and more suited to a cafe for tourists seeking out a tacky tartan experience.

Booked the 'Love is all you need" package through Itison. This did create some hilarity as booked for two friends as it was such a good deal (2 nights B&B, £25 dinner allowance and glass of fizz each, chocolate covered strawberries, robes, slippers and scented candles) for just £139. Wow! The hotel accommodated a change to a twin room, though we had to upgrade to an estate room for the dates required at £20 per night (on checking out this fee was actually waived, I actually asked again just to double check I'd heard correctly) Everything was still included in the package and waiting on our arrival. Wonderful reception at the hotel every time you enter, staff are so friendly and remember little details that add to the customer service. There was no issue with us booking our meal for the second night as we had plans in Inverness for our first night and when returning from a long tiring day out our meal time was brought forward without question. We were even seated at the sofa by the fire to relax with our wine whilst looking at the menu and awaiting our food. The dinner allowance was fully explained. The set menu of three courses taken from the a la carte menu was more than adequate to satisfy most palettes. The food itself was just superb, including breakfast. I would definitely return and probably book one of the garden rooms next time as they looked lovely and would have been perfect for the stunning weather we were lucky to have on our visit.

We booked a two night stay for our Silver Wedding anniversary. Pushed the boat out (no pun intended) and went for a junior Suite.
All we can say is that is an excellent place to stay.
The accommodation was super - the only "criticism" would be that there was no shelf in the shower for the shower gel/shampoo - petty I know but that is literally the only criticism we could make!
The food was excellent and the service superb.

We recently held our wedding in this hotel, on the advice of the locals and because it's dog freindly. We had stayed in the past and been disappointed but what a difference a change of management can make!! The hotel is being refurbished and it's looking more classy and 'boutique' like than it's ever been, despite the lack of the old pub. The staff and management made everything so easy to ensure that our day was perfect and we honestly cannot rate them highly enough. They even looked after our dogs!! Anything we requested, we got - nothing was a problem. The standard of the food and accommodation was exceptional considering they were catering for in excess of 50 people and the entire experience was one that we'll never forget. Please go and try The Boat (or try it again) - you'll not be disappointed (and your dog will love it!).

We bought a 5pm Big Deal 'Love is all you need' package which included 2 nights B&B, first night dinner allowance, glass of fizz with dinner, scented candles, chocolate strawberries, robes and slippers. Upon arrival, we were advised that the strawberries would be brought up shortly and that the robe and slippers were already in the room.
It was quite a trek to the room (creaky steep sets of stairs with very little signage to rooms) and once there, we were disappointed with the room itself to be honest. Whilst clean and 'adequate', it certainly did not offer any 'romantic' aspirations. I suspect local B&B's could have provided better accommodation; the furniture was dated and the bathroom was extremely basic. Make your own mind up from the pictures provided but personally I expected better. We had to call down nearly an hour into our arrival to ask for the strawberries and robes and it took another 40 minutes for them to arrive, just as we were leaving to go down for dinner. Would have preferred milk chocolate instead of plain on my strawberries but there you go, I'm maybe being picky! Still no sign of the scented candles though...hmmmm! Upon arrival at the restaurant, we had to ask for the glass of fizz and our dinner allowance was not explained to us so we thought we had £25 between us towards dinner whereas it turned out we had £25 each. Oh well, the wine was paid for then! Usually the terms of your deal are explained to you clearly from the outset in my experience (and we tend to go away a lot on deals!).
This is where the disappointment ends though. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff and ongoing service were great. The restaurant deserves it's AA Rosettes.
I did feed back on my departure that whilst the food and service received was excellent, we were left disappointed with the 'Love Package' experience. So would we come back? Well, no to be honest. Between the lack of attention to our deal and the standard of our room, I would not make the 3 hour trip again. I have to stress again though, the food was excellent and the staff really friendly. Shame about the rest.

Dear Guest,

Many thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts and observations with us. I note that the deal was based on one of our Classic Guestrooms, which are our entry level bedrooms product and whilst they have minor imperfections such as restricted views or smaller bathroom/shower rooms, they do offer value and comfort. The terms of your deal are explained on your voucher which you bought and also reiterated on your confirmation from the hotel. Having investigated this further, I note on the reservation system that the 'love package' was not mentioned, and I can see this is where the issue has stemmed from. I can only sincerely apologise that this important message was missed and that the items were not taken to your room immediately; I will of course have to investigate this further with the staff concerned.
Needless to say I was most disappointed to read of your experience and can only apologise for this, as you will see from other reviews this is certainly not common practice. We will take the time to review the comments made with the hotel team and we will use your feedback as part of our on-going commitment to improve.
Thank you again for bringing it to our attention and I would ask that if you plan to stay in the area again that you make contact with myself as I would welcome the chance to personally ensure you are looked after.

Kind regards,

Just wanted to thank the staff at the Boat Hotel for a lovely stay. This was our second trip to the Boat Hotel and we continued to be delighted with the standard of service from all staff. The dining room staff were absolutely excellent and I could not fault them in the slightest or any of the other staff for that matter. Our room was clean, fresh and comfortable, and the view over the train station, and hills beyond was a delight to waken to in the morning. The location of this hotel is perfect as a base to explore Aviemore, Carrbridge, Boat of Garten, the Osprey Centre and beyond. We will definitely be back to spend more time here, thanks again to all the staff

I think there are plenty of reviews and photos to show what a great hotel this is and I can only confirm the hotel facilities and quality of are excellent.

What I would like to emphasize, as other reviewers have noted, is the customer service. Our original booking had to be cancelled because of a family bereavement. The management very kindly not only changed our dates but up-graded us to a suite to "help us at this difficult time". I would like to say how much we appreciated this fantastic gesture, it was indeed just what we needed and reinforces the quality of customer care demonstrated by all staff at The Boat.

This was our second visit,it will not be our last
