“Fabulous 2 day break”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 6, 2013

My husband and I enjoyed a fabulous 2 night dinner bed & breakfast break at The Boat Hotel last week. From the minute we entered The Boat, we received the warmest of Highland welcomes from the Staff. The Hotel exudes a warm relaxing atmosphere with a charming Bar looking out to the Strathspey Steam railway which is worth a trip on !. We stayed in the Garden Wing which is furnished beautifully with a little decking where we enjoyed a glass of wine before dinner. A really lovely touch was the chocolate strawberries waiting for us on arrival . So many thoughtful touches await you. Breakfast was excellent with so much choice which kept us going until we returned for our dinner in the Osprey Bistro Both nights we enjoyed fresh local produce which was complimented with some nice Chilean wine. Can't wait to return to explore more of this area

Room Tip: If you want a modern room choose the Garden Wing

Our walking group of 10 have just spent two nights at The Boat. The extremely friendly and helpful staff contributed to a most enjoyable stay. The dining experience in the evening was first class with an excellent choice. Substantial breakfasts ensured the walkers well charged for their trek.
Rooms were spacious, very clean and included sizeable baths for a good soak after a day on the mountains.
The proximity of The Strathspey Heritage Railway is an additional bonus.

Room Tip: Room 111 has a pleasant outlook and suite 306 provides spectacular views over The Cairngorms

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your comment on TripAdvisor. I am sorry to read that you were disappointed with the price of our coffee whilst you stopped off with us recently .

We are certainly not the most expensive coffee in Scotland, but we appreciate your comments regarding the price and will certainly take this on board. We do market research regularly comparing us to other similar hotels in the area, and can confirm that other hotels can charge up to £5.50 for latte's. Our coffee prices range from £2.50 for House Coffee right up to £6.50 for Gaelic Coffee.

I hope that this does not deter you from visiting us again.

Kind regards,

Shona MacLachlan

We stayed here for 4 nights in April and from start to finish, the experience was top class. Every member of staff was friendly and professional. The management clearly knows how to run and maintain a hotel.

The room was spotlessly clean, very well-serviced every day, with a very comfortable king size bed, plenty of pillows, robes and all the usual bathroom amenities and lots of towels. Cleanliness was of the highest class and the room was prepared to the same high standard every day.

Food was equally high quality. We stayed on a package arrangement via the hotel which gave us a wide range of options for dinner. i.e. we could simply op for the table d'hote menu as per the package, mix and match from the a la carte up to a ££ limit (and pay a supplement if we wanted to exceed the package amount) or dine from the bar menu and, again, mix this with a la carte if desired.

The food itself was also very good indeed with very friendly and professional service to match.

Overall, we would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again. Very simply, it delivers on all counts!

Room Tip: If you can stretch to the upgrade, I would definitely recommend the King Deluxe Garden rooms which h...

Stayed here for 2 nights in February. Dined in the restaurant in the first night. The food was delicious, but the set menu was a little restrained (for my tastes). Had breakfast on both mornings, which was plentiful and well cooked. A great view if the station from the dining room. The room was warm & quiet (despite being over the service area) and a good size.

Just been here for 4 nights B & B and was a lovely friendly hotel, the staff were great with nothing too much trouble. The room was very nice, spotless and well equipped no complaints at all. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of variety and able to mix and match of the menu which really helped. Also had dinner twice in the restaurant and the food and service was first class. Would have no hesitation recommending this hotel and hoping to be back again soon.

Stayed 2 nights in this hotel in very small village of boat of garten 5 miles outside aviemore, using a groupon deal. The staff are very attentive, nothing was too much trouble . we stayed in one of the garden rooms which was lovely as it had a patio and chairs outside with gorgeous views over to the Cairnngorms. I had a quick look in one of the standard bedrooms which was much smaller and more old fashioned so I believe it is definitely worth paying extra for the garden room.. The only downside was that it is quite a long walk from the garden rooms to reception but its worth it. We had the table d'hôte dinner on both nights of our stay the food was plentiful and beautifully cooked though the menu didn't change which is a little disappointing so on the second night some of our party choose from the al a carte which is pricier . we only had one problem during our stay..the hotel promises wi fi throughout but in the bedrooms the wifi reception is patchy at best but heyho you are in such a lovely spot you can just bin the I pad till you get home. Will def stay there again ESP if we can source another deal

Room Tip: Pay for a garden room
