“What a lovely week”
Reviewed March 29, 2018 for a stay in March 2018

I was familiar with the area from having visited as a child and bringing my own children. We love it here and have returned with the next generation. The house was perfect for us. Walks along the river and easy access to the mountains for a bit of skiing. Everything we had hoped for. Thank you.

“Great family cottage”
Reviewed February 14, 2017 for a stay in February 2017

A super hideaway yet really close to Aviemore and all the Speyside attractions. We have 3 children under 10 and they thought the cottage was one of the best things about their stay. It is really spacious and the bedrooms (especially the 2 twin rooms upstairs) are huge. Garden is a good size and interesting enough for the children to run around in. It is clean, comfortable and well-equipped although don't expect terribly fashionable décor or furniture. Despite being at heart an old stone cottage it is very cosy and we were there in Winter. Susan, the owner, is very friendly and helpful.

“Perfect choice”

My husband and I rented this charming cottage largely because of its location for our wildlife photography trip. It's very convenient for restaurants/supermarket shopping in Aviemore whilst being conveniently set in a very quiet and picturesque area. Very clean, comfortable and cosy, with everything provided that we could possibly have asked for.

I am surprised to find myself saying that we would have welcomed wifi as it's not something that we normally want on a photography trip, but it would have been very useful for researching local places to go where we could expect to find wildlife - despite thinking that we had done all that before leaving home!

We would have no hesitation in recommending this lovely cottage to anyone who welcomes solitude whilst still being within easy reach of local amenities.

“Relaxing yet energising stay in Mullingarroch Cottage”

Very easy to find, excellent directions and very recognisable. Warm and welcoming cottage, with beautiful views across the countryside with horses and cows in, and on further to the Cairngorms. Babbling brook running next to the cottage, and sheep and the River Spey on the other side. Magical place to be.. I have withdrawal from being there already! The cottage is very well equiped and VERY spacious, plenty of room for six people to be comfortable. There was everything there we needed. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would't hesitate in coming back or recommending to anyone. Owner very helpful too regarding key and allowing supermarket delivery. Just brilliant all round! and even the weather was fantastic!! :-)

“Great location and lots of space for families.”
Reviewed July 26, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

The location is idea. It is close enough to Aviemore to make it easy to get some essentials but far enough that you are away from any big town. Great house for families and great central location for all that Aviemore, Speyside and the surrounding areas have. One improvement could be the addition of wifi. I know this is a plus for some but for me access to the outside world would have been perfect (mobile signal is weak but good enough for a phone call).

The cottage is positioned on a quiet road with off road parking. There is a lawned area and garden overlooking fields which was appreciated by all. The kitchen and utility area were well equipped. The beds were comfortable. All in all I and my friends were very pleased with our choice.

“Absolutely Fantastic”

We visited in February for an outdoorsy holiday. The cottage is lovely set against a back drop of beautiful mountains. It is a 15 minute drive from the Cairngorm Mountain, so absolutely ideal for skiing. It is also only 10 minutes from Aviemore, but it is well in the countryside with fields and greenery on all sides. The cottage is also a great location for mountain biking. There is a plethora of forest trails and tracks within 500 meters of the cottage's front door.

The cottage itself is spacious, easily accommodating 6 adults with room to spare. The kitchen is modern and very well equipped, whilst the rest of the cottage is quaint and rustic (but has central heating so you can enjoy the best of both worlds!).
From the upstairs landing there is a lovely view of the River Spey. There was lots of little nice touches left by the owner such as leaving the central heating on for when we arrived, leaving dishwasher tablets etc in the kitchen and providing each room with a fan heater (which were never used due to the central heating). Phone signal is limited but you really don't need phones when you are in this place, as there so much to do and the scenery is so breathtaking!

I am struggling to find anything to fault this place with. On bit of advice is make sure you bring your own towels. All correspondence with the owner was friendly and quickly answered. On previous trips to Aviemore we have stayed in Chalets which have always been very cramped and no where near as good as this cottage. Next time we are this area of Scotland we will definitely be staying again. I can't recommend it enough!
