There are few places in the Cairngorm National park where food, wine and location come together as beautifully as The Boat Bistro, we showcase rustic and seasonal fare and re-imagined classics, featuring vegetables, fruits and herbs grown locally combined with produce sourced from the British Isles. Poached, squeezed, pressed, steamed, grilled, wilted, roasted, battered and seared. Our utterly delicious food, from first thing in the morning to last thing at night, will melt on your tongue and always leave you wanting more. Our menus comprise contemporary interpretations of classic British dishes. Our Lunch and Dinner menus also feature daily Best of British specials. It almost goes without saying that we use fresh, local, seasonal produce as the norm.Breakfast offers you a range of cold dishes and freshly baked pastries from the larder. As well as a fully cooked Scottish breakfast, you can order anything from delicate smoked Scottish Haddock to meltingly beautiful Eggs Florentine. Whilst we did not stay here this time we stopped off for a quick lunch.
As always the staff were welcoming and very pleasant. We had an excellent light lunch sitting outside in the balmy weather that Scotland has been experiencing over the last few days watching the local steam engine going past .
We had been given a tour of the hotel on a past occasion and the newly refurbished rooms are very comfortable and nicely furnished. This is definately a hotel where the management and staff put the customers first.

Stopped in Boat of Garten yesterday for a late lunch and found the Boat. We had a lovely lunch in a really pleasant hotel. Very friendly staff and the food was really good. A new Chef, with a new menu, apparently, and it was lovely. Had the starter salads as a main and they were enough. Look forward to visiting again soon.

Staff took our name down wrong on arrival and had to be corrected in the dining room when confirming our booking. Very slow service (on a table d'hôte menu?!) with only 3 options at each course. Food, however, absolutely fine when it arrived, with generous portions.

Found this place when looking for lunch en route to Aviemore. The warmth of the welcome as we walked into the bar was exceptional. Our delicious sandwiches were made to order. The service was very good and the rest of the menu looked tempting enough to make us try to plan a return visit for a full meal before too long.

We arrived unannounced as a group of 8 looking for lunch. The bar could not be reorganised to accommodate us, but the tables in the main restaurant were re-arranged within minutes, and despite the fact that we were 'out of the way', service was attentive. Good range of lunchtime snacks and reasonable prices.
