Description: Boat Bistro & Bar. There are few places in the Cairngorm National park where food, wine and location come together as beautifully as The Boat Bistro, we showcase rustic and seasonal fare and re-imagined classics, featuring vegetables, fruits and herbs grown locally combined with produce sourced from the British Isles. Poached, squeezed, pressed, steamed, grilled, wilted, roasted, battered and seared. Our utterly delicious food, from first thing in the morning to last thing at night, will melt on your tongue and always leave you wanting more. Our menus comprise contemporary interpretations of classic British dishes. Our Lunch and Dinner menus also feature daily Best of British specials. It almost goes without saying that we use fresh, local, seasonal produce as the norm.Breakfast offers you a range of cold dishes and freshly baked pastries from the larder. As well as a fully cooked Scottish breakfast, you can order anything from delicate smoked Scottish Haddock to meltingly beautiful Eggs Florentine. If there’s anything else you’d like to eat, just ask. We’re not too posh or proud to make boiled egg and soldier. The Osprey Bar is warm and welcoming, the perfect place to meet, the bar is full of quiet corners. Tuck yourself away with a paper. Enjoy a quiet romantic moment. The Boat Bistro & Bar, you'll find:Best of British specials every day.Breakfast, lunch and dinner, contemporary interpretations of traditional dishes using fresh local produce. Extensive malt whisky selection. Early Bird Dining. We welcome everyone to experience the Bistro & Bar, including guests not staying at the hotel.

Visited the bistro after a visit to a local brewery, in a party of 7 which we had booked on the morning. The bistro was very nice with a traditional layout and decor and an open fire. We all got drinks from a full bar selection and sat down to an enjoyable meal.

The service was great both from the waiting staff and the barr staff with meals and orders taking not long to sort out. I personally chose the early bird selection and had 2 courses for £13 which consisted of venison sausages as a starter and sticky toffee pudding, washed down with a Hendricks and Tonic.

The food was fantastic and exclelenty presented, othe rmembers of the party had different meals (pidgeon, chicken, soup, fish and chips etc.) and with no complaints at all. Would recommend this hotel bistro to anyone passing by

We arrived to have lunch in the bar. We tried to ask a member of staff if they had a table. He rushed past us ignoring our enquiry. We were then mistaken for a large group and when they discovered their mistake, we were told to go through to a different room entirely. Our server was so rude that we decided to leave. The menu looked mediocre at best. Service like this makes me ashamed to be Scottish. I really pity visitors from other countries witnessing this kind of appalling service.

Re the previous review "bit of a let down really" DITTO!!!

I would like trip advisor to explain what in particular this hotel was presented with their certificate for!

Apart from the disrepair which I'm sure they should be served with a notice for, the food is no way worthy of 2 rosette as stated! It's pub grub at best! It may well have been worthy of this stature back in 2005 as per the trophy plate and the others from the previous years but someone needs to revisit this!

Also, there is mention of enjoying a bar or table d'hote menu but they are one in the same! You are also eating in the same area as the public bar, a nicer atmosphere would be had next door in the dining room but I assume this is not on offer as the barman doubles as the waiter!
