Description: WelcomeWhether you've something to celebrate, are at the end of a hard day's walking in the hills, or simply fancy a break from cooking at home, it is our wish at Anderson's that you all feel welcome. Forget pretence, the atmosphere here is relaxed and informal, so sit back, switch off, and savour the pleasure of great food and drink. Local Produce At Anderson's we are committed to using local Scottish produce when it is in season, so needless to say, our menu changes each month, along with our daily specials. Each dish is lovingly prepared and bought together in such a way as to bring out the very best of truly great, fresh ingredients. Although our menu is creative, our aim is simple, to present you with food that we are confident you will enjoy, and that tastes fantastic.Family Friendly The whole family is welcome at Anderson's, and it is important to us that everyone can tuck into something they will enjoy. So for children we can either offer half portions of anything on the menu, or for specific likes or dislikes, please feel comfortable to say, and the chef will be happy to come up with something to suit- within reason! Similarly please make us aware of any special dietary requirements you may have.“It’s great to see a restaurant like Andersons opening up in Boat of Garten. Owners Steve and Claire have put a huge amount of thought and effort into their set up, and their intended philosophy of utilizing the best of Scottish produce should be a real boost to the local restaurant scene. I wish them every success for the future.” Nick Nairn

For a Wednesday night in February it was very busy - both with locals and holidaymakers and after dining i can see why.
Homemade bread as you take a look at the menu's and then followed by a tough decision as everything sounded fantastic! The tandoori rabbit salad to start was not a dissapointment.
Local produce, knowledgable waiters and a great chef make this a great dining experience.
Only downside was that on a midweek night the staff were obviously anxious to get finished - having booked for 8pm we were still enjoying the last of our bottle of wine and coffees when the mop and buckets came out. The bleach aroma kind of spoiled what otherwise was a great wee find.

We had a fantastic Thursday night dinner at Anderson's this week. The choice of dishes was superb, I had the most amazing tandoori rabbit starter followed by excellent venision. My dining companions also throughley enjoyed their meals with a special mention of the tartifilette. The specials on offer were imaginative and exciting and the choice of homemade ice-cream was amazing. Although the restaurant is small it is certainly not lacking in atmosphere with easy and relaxed dining. Our waiter was delightful, helpful and and had an excellent knowledge of the food on offer. One of our party is coeliac and this small restaurant was much more on the ball and understanding of her condition and nothing was too much bother................a definite bonus for folks with a severe wheat intolerance. If you're in the vacinity of Boat of Garton be sure to visit Anderson's

We love Andersons and have reviewed it highly favorably before, but the last 2 visits were only average and the food quite bland. Hopefully just a glitch and will give it one more go

Thank you for your feedback, its very much appreciated, and very useful in gaining information in area we can improve. I'm so sorry to hear that you have had a less than perfect experience at our restaurant. If you had made your feeling clear to member of my staff on the night of you booking we could have done something to help resolve this matter. I would certainly not make you pay for food that you thought was bland, especially if you have thought this on more than one occasion. If possible, please can you send me a private email to let me know exactly what it was you had to eat so I can continue my investigation further. Please accept my sincere apologies that this this has happened to make you feel this way. Please understand that we are only human and do make mistakes, but for this to happen on two visits really bothers me. We do hope to see you in future and hopefully we can right and wrongs. Please if possible on your next visit ,come up to the hatch at the kitchen and introduce yourself so I can talk to you about the matter in person.

Kindest Regards,

Steve Anderson (owner)

Went for a family meal on a Mid week night while on a ski break in the highlands, been staying in the Boat for 6 years now but first time we have used Anderson's - positive reviews on Trip A suggested we give it a go and we were not disappointed - bistro was about half full - we all enjoyed a great meal competitively priced great service and a nice draught beer from local Cairngorm Brewery. Was very impressed that when youngest son's order was mixed up - he ended up with 2 meals neither of which we were charged for - outstanding. Enjoyed chatting to waitress - some great homemade ice creams - though our party of 6 was split about the chocolate, coconut and curry flavour ! We would strongly recommend this great little bistro and will definitely be back on our next visit to the Boat

We were 3 adults, 3 kids and a 13 month old baby. The restaurant is cosy and rustic with a real mixed age clientele. Service very friendly, helpful and quick - which is good with young kids. I was asked if my daughters meal should come out with starters or main - seems a simple question, but we are so infrequently asked this it just showed real thought.
Food really tasty with a good choice. Nice poem on front of menu!
Like the fact you can see them preparing your meal through hatch to kitchen.
