Description: WelcomeWhether you've something to celebrate, are at the end of a hard day's walking in the hills, or simply fancy a break from cooking at home, it is our wish at Anderson's that you all feel welcome. Forget pretence, the atmosphere here is relaxed and informal, so sit back, switch off, and savour the pleasure of great food and drink. Local Produce At Anderson's we are committed to using local Scottish produce when it is in season, so needless to say, our menu changes each month, along with our daily specials. Each dish is lovingly prepared and bought together in such a way as to bring out the very best of truly great, fresh ingredients. Although our menu is creative, our aim is simple, to present you with food that we are confident you will enjoy, and that tastes fantastic.Family Friendly The whole family is welcome at Anderson's, and it is important to us that everyone can tuck into something they will enjoy. So for children we can either offer half portions of anything on the menu, or for specific likes or dislikes, please feel comfortable to say, and the chef will be happy to come up with something to suit- within reason! Similarly please make us aware of any special dietary requirements you may have.“It’s great to see a restaurant like Andersons opening up in Boat of Garten. Owners Steve and Claire have put a huge amount of thought and effort into their set up, and their intended philosophy of utilizing the best of Scottish produce should be a real boost to the local restaurant scene. I wish them every success for the future.” Nick Nairn

In the small village of Boat of Garten is a "wee Treasure" of a restaurant called Anderson's,
It is small [ seating for about 24] with a relaxed and informal atmosphere. The staff is a very friendly group, each one knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients. There is a "wine of the month" board - very good too!
There is a good range of dishes using local ingredients - themed under titles - from the air;from the sea; from the earth. They make their own ice cream - with interesting varieties - from "gunpowder" [ treacle, chilli and raspberry] to "baked potato"!!!! There are daily speacials both at lunch time and in the evening.
Prices are very reasonable - starters around £5.00 Mains around £12. Dinner had good vegetarian choices.
Lunches are VERY good value - 2 courses £9.99 three at £12.99.
My ONLY SMALL criticism is that at lunch time there was no vegetarion choice, however I ate the fish crumble and it was DELICIOUS!

We had had Andersons recommended to us several times so thought we would give it a go. The first time we tried it was full so decided to book it for our imminent wedding anniversary meal. During the day we had climbed Ben Macdui and Cairngorm so we were very hungry and ready to take on some legal calories! On arrival we waited inside the door for quite a while before anybody came to us - when they did they weren't overly friendly and we felt a bit as if we had arrived at a private party. The staff took a while to come to us again to take our drinks order and again there was no conversation just the basic service which didn't feel very friendly. The food when it came was very good if a little traditional. We will give it another try sometime but not the experience we hoped for on a special occassion.

Andersons was just about full on the Thursday evening when we called in for dinner: indeed we were lucky to find a table. That was quite a surprise, but when the food arrived, we understood why the place was so popular. It was all beautifully prepared, the service was pleasant and efficient, and it was sensibly priced. Highly recommended.

We visited this restaurant on a trip to the area a couple of weeks ago. We were very impressed with the food and the waiter was so pleasant that he added to the pleasant experience for us all. It was amusing however to go back the next day to have soup which was the same but had a different name! Very enterprising!
