Wheatland Farm eco lodges

Our first impression was very positive with the nice scenery and we were welcomed by Ian with some very tasteful scones.
We slept in the honeysuckle lodge: a very nice lodge with enough room for 5 (2 adults, 3 children). We were lucky having very nice weather and could enjoy the swimming pond every day, which was blissful for the kids! The coast, Dartmoor and Exmoor are not to far away for a day's trip. Biking on the Tarka trail is attainable with public transport. We could lend for our time there, 5 bikes for us and our three children (age 9,8 &6): we made some trips nearby towards the playground and a forest (Hollocombe wood).
Ian was so friendly in lending a moth trap which yielded some nice moths and mayflies.
An unforgettable place!

Spent a delightful week in Otter Cottage, a cosy well equipped base for an active cycling holiday.
Delicious hot scones on arrival and very thoughtful hosts who made us feel most welcome on their Eco farm.
Clocked up 100 miles of beautiful off road cycling trails and spent a great day out on Lundy Island.
Discovered some great coffee stops and real ale pubs. The local farm shop and cafe can be heartily recommended.
Returned to a log burner and plenty hot water generated by the solar power.
A really relaxing environment that encourages you to think carefully about your impact on the planet. Loved every minute and looking forward to the completion of the superb large log cabin that should be in place next season.

With 4 young children and a dog, this was the perfect summer holiday for us and our second visit. At the farm, we biked, canoed and kayaked on the lake, caught fish, toasted marshmallows and the children had a huge amount of freedom to run around. Further afield, there was so much to do we could have stayed for a month! The lodge was warm and comfortable, we had a Tesco delivery the day we arrived which made everything easy, and when my mum arrived mid-week, Ian sorted out extra bedding with no fuss. We were made to feel welcome and there is a lovely relaxed atmosphere. I'm sure we'll be back again!

Family of five with boys aged 7,5 and 15 months. Felt very welcome and free to either visit Dartmoor or (better for all) simply explore the eco-farm reserve or fish, canoe, play badminton, go blackberry picking and generally unwind in idyllic settings. Add to that a beautiful warm and comfortable wooden lodge. One of our best holidays in the UK.
Thanks to Ian and Maggie (and Andy the farmer!)

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the wooden lodges and glad we did

Our first family holiday (two adults and three children) in the UK was brilliant. We enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere at Wheatland Farm. Thank you, Ian, for the many helpful tips for hiking in Dartmoor and the most beautiful beaches. Thank you, Maggie for the delicious scones.

Room Tip: honeysuckle lodge is perfect for a family-holiday. Well equippet, super beds...

Wheatland Farm is a beautiful place, with views to Dartmoor from Otter Cottage where we stayed. The fishing lake was a hit with my son, and the guided walk around the nature reserve interesting. Cycling along the Tarka Trail nearby was a big hit with all of us. The owners were very helpful with routes and suggestions for sunny and wet days. Lovely and keeping the carbon footprint low at the same time!

We usually stay here annually as it's location makes a handy base for visiting family who live locally.

Ian (the owner) is very friendly, he always goes out of his way to welcome us, his wife usually makes us something pleasant to eat on arrival, (cakes etc).

The surroundings are great. Lots of green open space, the dog loves it, and he is allowed in the cabins!

The cabins are clean, cosy (we've stayed when it has been bitterly cold outside) and spacious in the main living area. The beds and sofas are comfortable.

We were pleased to see that the cabins now have a great wifi connection! Very handy!

We're not really big into the whole eco thing but the owner has made it easy to recycle during the stay. The eco status of the place does not jeopardize the comfort it offers.

Room Tip: All the cabins are great (having stayed in them all) but the three bedroom cabin is a lot roomier!
