The rooms are very big and spacious but very old. The AC is not working. The restaurant is nice and food is not bad. The restaurant staff is very caring.

Wifi is not free and only available in lobby.

Very close to Kushinagar buddhist landmarks

We spent 2 nights while on a Buddhist pilgrimage. It was a splurge for us, as we needed hot water, WiFi and peace. Lotus Nikko delivered on all 3, and we were very comfortable there. The room was huge, so we had room service rather than sit in the empty restaurant. They have solar power for hot water, which was luke warm on the final day - I had to make due with a bucket of hot water. I thought it was odd that they didn't take credit cards, given the high cost. There is only 1 ATM in Kushinagar and it was out of order, so we were forced to change money at the hotel at 5% cost.

There are only 3 hotel is Kushinagar, Lotus Nikko is the oldest hotel which have bigger rooms with an A/C Windows. In the winter time, it's ok to stay in here as you don't need air condition. But in the summer time, you have to consider to use this hotel because it's not enough for using A/C Windows for a big room. In the summer time at night they always turn off the generator sets for about 2 hours.
For the other facilities, it's ok as the 3* hotel, not as the First Class Hotel (4*) as they say.

Room Tip: It's better to choose ground floor for elderly people as they don't have elevator

menu is very limited, rooms are very spacious. need to pay in cash as they dont accept cards. Some basic servcies like STD calls are overpriced. Room service takes time but is good. stayed for 8 days.

Had stayed here in a single room for 1 night in Nov 2012 as part of a Buddhist pilgrimage tour of 30 people from Asia....this was the first hotel in the Lotus Nikko chain that I have stayed in India...the other being Bodhdgaya (a few days later during the same trip...see other review). Must say that compared to similar standard hotels in Kathmandu and Lumbini, this one in Kushinagar seemed to be a notch down. Again, it was clear that the hotel has seen better days, the general facilities were however generally clean and the lawns well kept.

The room was spacious but spartant, while hot water was not an issue. Somehow though, it felt like a prison cell, and in attempt to deodourize the room, the service folks had stuffed mothballs in the toilet...so the whole room smelled of mothballs during the night....No kettle or minibar services are available, so if you need a cup of tea before you sleep, make sure you bring your own kit.

Would I stay here again? If I have another choice and not travelling as part of the pilgrimage tour, probably not...but it will do for a night.

We, a groupof 30 stayed here in mid Dec and remember it as the best compared to all the others, throughout our pilgrimage. A pleasant surprise were the spacious rooms and the buffet meals we had - a variety of food to satisfy all of us and very prompt service. The reception staff were professional, polite and responsive. They were very nice to allow us to do our web check in at the reception's computer. When requested the heater was sent to our room promptly. The bathroom, room and sheets were clean so most of us had a good night's rest.

We stayed at the Lotus Nikko in Kushinagar and in Sravasti. The hotel in Sravasti was much better than the Kushinagar location.

The Lotus Nikko in Kushinagar had huge rooms. The room was clean. Hotel staff were friendly. Location was good. But the food was mediocre and the price of the hotel was extremely expensive. For those travelers who are visiting the sites on a Buddha site pilgrimage, stay here only one night. There are few sites to see in this villiage. There are few hotel options in Kushinagar so I suppose they really don't feel like they have to try very hard (i.e. improve on food, give a little better service, offer free wifi).

All and all and average stay for a LOT of money.
