Having briefly visited Seil island before, we were keen to stay longer, so booked into Garragh Mhor for a couple of nights on our way to the Outer Hebrides. Ellenabeich is a charming village on an enchanting little island and if you are looking for a relaxing change to the touristy hubbub of Oban - look no further.

Our chosen base was Gharragh Mhor and, again, if you are looking for a fantastic B&B - I would suggest that you need look no further. The house is well-appointed with lovely rooms and the owners, Trish and Steve, are most hospitable and friendly. When staying here we felt more like house guests than paying customers, and that is testament to the warm welcome you receive.

A rather important aspect of a B&B stay is the breakfast and I can report that the one served here is top class. Not only were the portions generous, but the ingredients used were top quality. After making our choice from fresh fruits, juices, yoghurt, cereals etc, I had a full Scottish breakfast which comprised of; proper butcher's sausage, thick-cut bacon, Stornoway black pudding, fresh tomato, tattie scone, mushrooms, fried egg and beans. The breakfast was perfectly cooked and delicious - as was my wife's smoked salmon ad scrambled egg.

This was our first stay at Garragh Mhor but I am pretty sure that we will return often.

Stayed here with my elderly mum for three nights and found the rooms and service second to none! Trish can't do enough for you, there's a great choice for breakfast and the rooms are modern and spotless. You can sit in the conservatory in the evening or out in the garden (weather and midgies permitting - I'd recommend Avon Skin So Soft!)
The bedrooms, breakfast room and conservatory are all on ground level which was ideal for my mum.
The village is very tranquil and life seems to move at a slower pace - the surrounding scenery is stunning.
Trish gave lots of good recommendations for places to visit and things to do. The trip to Luing takes in lots of fabulous scenery and wildlife. Trish recommended a visit to Kilbrandon Church to see the beautiful stained glass windows - fantastic, and a visit to Easdale is a must, especially if you like skimming stones! (The islands are all made of slate so there are fantastic skimmers there and the World Stone Skimming Championships are held on Easdale in September).
I would highly recommend staying with Trish and I hope to go back for a visit soon.

We stayed o/n here last week, and could'nt have had a more friendly welcome from Trish. Absolutely no complaints - comfortable room with homemade shortbread and excellent breakfast with lots of fresh fruit and homemade marmalade. Trish also serves dinner on a couple of nights a week, and has a drinks licence, so we really enjoyed our g and t and Colonsay beer in the garden that evening. We shall definitely return.

We took the whole B and B for a family get together. All the family had a great time and brilliant hospitality from the owners. Beautiful setting close to the mini ferry to Easdale. We would thoroughly recommend the place for a peaceful tranquil break. Try the sea fari too.

If you are looking for a quiet place to stay on the Island of Seil, Trish's bed and breakfast Garragh Mhor is well worth the price. Clean and modern rooms, with wi-fi, tv, coffee-making facilities and ensuite bathroom. Up a wee lane just before the ferry, it is well off the not too busy road. The cooked breakfast will set you up for the day. Recommended.

We stayed with Trish Angus and Steve for 3 nights, we really enjoyed our trip and would definitely recommend this B+B, Trish's cooking is better than the Oyster bar in the Village and less costly, we ate twice in the evening over the 3 days we were there, it's a bit of a drive from here in Kent but well worth the hospitality once you get there.

Seil and Easdale are one of my favourite places in Scotland (amazing views, lovely atmosphere, great pubs), and Garragh Mhor is a wonderful place to stay. We've stayed twice and both have been excellent. Trish is extremely helpful and welcoming. The rooms are really comfortable and well-furnished, the showers are amazing and the breakfasts and the shortbread are lovely too. A perfect B&B.
