Description: For garden enthusiasts, sailors or just those wanting an informal place to have a meal and refreshments, the Bistro at Loch Melfort provides a wonderful balance of spectacular views, casual dining and delicious food. Our legendary langoustines are served daily, along with scallops and mussels. All our food, including Highland Beef Burgers and Beer Battered Haddock are home-made and our policy of buying food locally wherever possible applies to all our dishes. Vegetarian options are also available. The Bistro directly overlooks Asknish Bay with wonderful views out to Shuna, Jura and Scarba as well as Skerries.

Just returned from 3 day stay at Loch Melford Hotel. Chose to eat here each evening rather than in main dining room as didn't want 5 course meal. Food really excellent - especially seafood - muscles to be recommended, as are the scallops, prawns, crab claws & giant fish & chips. Beautifully cooked. Excellent friendly staff looked after us really well. First class all round - with views to die for!

Four of us ate at the Chartroom Bistro and had an excellent meal in the beautifully located restaurant. The Seafood Platter for sharing between two at £38 was exceptionally good value and even with help from the other two of us we couldn't finish it all. The cracked crab claws were huge and really impressive. NIce staff who really tried. Just a few minor glitches but otherwise a really good experience.

Ate here on Sunday. The menu has been simplified a little, for lunchtime anyway, but it remains good with both meat and vegetarian options and plenty of excellent local seafood for both starters and mains.
I had scallops to begin which were cooked to buttery perfection followed by langoustine and salad with fresh bread and home made mayonnaise.
We had a very nice bottle of Vino Verde to wash things down. This wine no longer appears very often on a menu and I can't think why. It is a fresh, dry and light white wine from Portugal. It is ideal for lunch as it is only 9%.
The toilets are good, as is parking and disabled access.
The most amazing thing however is the view, it is superb.
After lunch go for a wander in Arduaine Gardens next door, a National Trust Scotland property and well worth a visit.

Food is shamefully overpriced in the bistro, tenner for 3 tiny bits of tuna and salad leaves could buy ten cans of John west for that ain't kidding very bad major let down. No bread with langoustines (18.50) and had to ask for finger bowl. Can't fault the hotel, location or staff but please sort out the overpriced food.
