Simple and relaxed dining. The staff were really lovely with our wee baby. Fish and chips ok but the setting made it.
Perfect

Stayed in the Loch Melfort Hotel and ate in Chartroom Bistro. The food was excellent and the view looking out onto the loch was outstanding. The staff were friendly and attentive and we were very happy with our meal.

After a delightful afternoon on a beautiful day at the NTS garden at Arduaine we sat on the terrace of the Chartroom bistro at the Loch Melfort Hotel, taking in the stunning view down the loch, sipping our drinks and soaking up the evening sun. Then I noticed the bistro took the Gourmet Society discount card I hold. A quick enquiry inside with the very pleasant and helpful young bartenders established they could take a booking there and then, so we were givena superb table inside for a meal we were relishing after perusing the well constructed menu.

In fact, the actual delivery was someting of a let-down. Leek and potato soup was quite good but the rib-eye steaks were poor and not cooked as we asked. Mine should have been medium, but was actually very well done. The accompanying salads were poor and looked like left-overs from another meal. Hand cut chips were good. Had we paid the full asking price of £18.75 each for these steaks we would have been very disappointed indeed. The place had busied up considerably with people coming through from the main hotel and it soon became apparent we had been given a table that another couple was expecting, as they sat on some stools and out-stared us. We paid the bill and left. Such a pity after a such a promising start.
