“not so great”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

When you microwave pizza's for kids meals that is a big NO in my eyes, my son nearly choked trying to eat his pizza, the waitress saw for herself how upset he was, I really appreciated that she rushed to get him a glass of water, it was a shame as she was coming over to ask how how meals were, and I would have told her that the kids meals were unacceptable. My partner and our meals therefore were nice and no complaints there. But please Tafarn Morlais don't microwave kids Pizza's they may come out soft, but over a very short time they then begin to go hard as they start to cool down!

“Nice fresh food”
Reviewed June 23, 2013

Myself and husband went here for a meal last night :-) for the first time. It was smaller inside than expected. Typical pub tables and chairs inside although the outside sitting area looked new and done out on decking. We booked our table at 6pm so it wasn't full in there but all the tables that were left had reserved on them so its obviously a popular place. You don't have to wait around to be served by a waiter/waitress here so once you are ready to order you just go up to the bar and order it. I had a fisherman's platter from the specials menu (cod, scampy, king prawns) and Chips with home made Coleslaw and tartare sauce. The side salad was lovely and fresh with lettuce, mixed pepper and red onion in and it had all been freshly cooked. My husband had a mixed grill which came with a tin bucket of chips and his was equally as freshly cooked.
Nice fresh food and fast service. The inside could do with new tables and chairs and possibly an extension but the food quality itself was excellent!! We will definitely go back.

“Wonderful service and good food.... Once again”
Reviewed June 18, 2013 via mobile

We have been here a number of times, mostly on a Sunday, we do enjoy the Sunday lunch overall but a bit more choice in vegetables would be wonderful, we booked a table for my sons 13th birthday, and the steak was beautiful, would like to see a bigger choice of desserts though, service is always attentive by all staff especially the owner, nothing is to much trouble.will continue to visit, and people who complain about never being able to get in last minute, a word of advice....book a table!!!

“Has become a regular treat”
Reviewed June 12, 2013

Since my first review we have returned regularly. My husband and I have turned up four times for a meal without notice, twice in the evening, twice for lunch and we have always been accommodated. When dining as a family we have always booked as we take a party of between 8-15 each time. Sunday carvery is very good, and the standard menu has never once failed us. In total we must have ordered well over 100 meals here in the last 5 months and each one has been superb. We have also taken balloons & cakes when it has been a celebration which the staff are more than happy to accommodate. The staff are pleasant, nothing is too much trouble, it is family friendly and the food is consistently good, what more could you ask for.

“disappointment !!”
Reviewed May 18, 2013

One good thing with re this restaurant is the food ""IF"" You can get some??? We have been there on numerous occassions for food, as soon as we have arrived we have asked ...is it ok to have a table ... to which the normal reply is... sorry we have a table of 16 due in?? which obviously means they cant cope with more than just that 1 table !!
Last visit, we arrived at approx 3 30 ...asked for 3 simple starters, to which the reply was... sorry we have a party due in at 4 so kitchen is closed....at that time there were 3 bar staff only serving about 10 people ..and 2 kitchen staff !
We waited until half 5 until the party came which were mostly all children ( who emptied all the back area of pub)
Surely in these times, where pubs are crying out for people willing to purchase food and drink instead of staying indoors to do so, need to take a look at the number of of staff they employ and not turn paying customers away because whilst we were there another 5 seperate couples were told the same and just left .
May i add that this has happened the last 4 visits, but as mentioned at beginning of reveiw the food is great if and when you can have it...."open all day for food" I don't think so.
