The Sheesh Mahal is consistently good (although we have found the Sunday buffet to be a bit below what they serve up the rest of the week - perhaps this is inevitable with a buffet?). On our latest visit we went on a Saturday night and enjoyed the usual high standard of food and service that we have come to expect here.
The only word to describe the pappadums in the Sheesh is superb! On this occasion, we were tempted by the set meal for two offer, which comprised pappadums (extra charge!), plus a kebab platter to share for the first course. The mains were lamb bhuna, chicken tikka masala, pilau rice, and mixed vegetables.
The kebab starter was moist, tender and delicious, and the chicken tikka masala was the nicest dish I have tasted in an Indian restaurant anywhere. The portions were also big, and I am pleased to say that the food was so delicious that I managed to finish my meal. Sadly, though, we were both too full to sample the desserts! One word of warning though, the sauces are very rich indeed, and so may not be to everyone's taste. Ask the friendly staff if you would like something a bit lighter, as they are happy to amend dishes to your personal taste.
The Saturday night atmosphere was pleasantly chilled and relaxed.
Quite simply, this is the best curry house by far in the Llanelli area. At around £30 including the extra pappadums and three (non alcoholic) drinks, we were delighted with the cost as well.
