“A very pleasant stay in Llanelli”
Reviewed October 29, 2011

Stayed here to visit family in Llanelli and suprised to say this is the best premier inn I have stayed in (and I've stayed in quite a few). The Staff were outstanding, friendly, always smiling and went out of their way to help. The Beefeater was fine for dinner and excellent for breakfast. The Breakfast staff went out of their way to make my son's birthday special for him. Lovely clean room and very handy for shops etc. Will definitely stay again!

First stay in a Premier Inn but based on our experience here - wont be the last. Staff friendly, polite and efficient. Room clean and bed quite comfy. Located near a large shopping outlet providing more choice for meals inc breakfast. Beefeater next door was ok but nothing special.

Stopped at this hotel for 3 nights on business.

- location
The hotel is on the edge of a very handy retail park with a supermarket just across the road. Plenty of parking and has a beefeater next to the hotel. the road outside seems rather busy and so need to keep the windows closed.

- hotel
Staff are very helpful and friendly. The first room I was given had a very noisy ac unit which you could hear from outside. The room was clean but had a very small (14") CRT tv with a freeview box. So I swapped rooms and then happy.

- restaurant
Beefeater is just next door and seems very busy. First night, 45 min expected wait so I ordered a meal from the bar (meat platter for £19.99) and took back to the room. Took about 20 mins and was very good.
Second night, still busy and when I asked fir a quiet table I was put next to a couple of booths of young kids, very noisy and so decided to take back to the room again. So gave the order and asked for garden peas and the new potatoes to go with the steak platter again. About 40 min wait this time and then took back to the room. What a difference, the steaks were over cooked, tough and fairly tasteless. The pepper sauce was too mustardy, new potatoes were definitely not new, rather tinned or reheated from yesterday. The mushroom was just plain nasty and they had forgotten the butter & peas I'd especially asked for. So I took the plate back, spoke to the manager who was very helpful and apologetic and asked if I wanted something else. I decided not to and would go for a takeaway instead. She was going to arrange a refund of the meal.
The front staff were excellent but it was like a completely different restaurant tonight and I felt the cooks just didn't care. Very disappointed as this is one of the worst beefeater restaurants I've gone to and I stay away between 4 & 7 nights a week for the last 18 months. This was a £19.99 meal and it just wasn't up to the Mark, very disappointed.
The breakfasts were ok, normal premier in style, you order, they cook and bring to you. Not the normal fast service but got there eventually. Lovely croissants.
- conclusion
Arrive early, check in and check the room out. Forget the restaurant.

We stayed in a family room for 2 nights. Our room was oppositie a large electric pylon which wasnt a problem at all. The room was emaculately clean, one of the cleanest rooms I have ever stayed in. It was a basic room but cheerful, it suited us fine. However the beds were very hard and the pillows were uncomfortable so didn't get a very good nights sleep. However we found the hotel to be very quiet, no noise from the corridors or outside either. One issue with the room is the layout. We couldn't understand why the vanity mirror and hairdryer was were the kettle and tea and coffee facilities were. With a large desk in the middle of the room, surely it would have made sense to put the hairdryer and vanity mirror there.
Other comments about the hotel is that the staff were very pleasent and eager to please. When our clothes were creased they gave us an iron and ironing board which helped a great deal.
The Beefeater is right next door and was ideal to have a few drinks in there every night before bed and there was a good atmosphere in the evenings. However we decided to have breakfast there on our last morning and it was very poor. It was like organised chaos. Although the choice in our continental breakfast was good and tasted nice, the service was very slow and we felt forgotten about when we were waiting to be seated. We found that the Morrison's right across from the Premier Inn did good breakfasts at a much cheaper price.
Overall, good staff, clean room, good services but very overpriced. The 'room's from £29' is very misleading and should be an advertisment that is banned.

Room Tip: The room's next the the main road will be noisy as it's a busy main road.

Stayed here for 2 nights with kids and friend. Lovely receptionist who was very friendly and welcoming. Room was very clean but had a slight smell of wee in bathroom my friend had noticed same smell in hers too. Double bed, single bed and single mattress on floor, bedding clean, but beds were the hardest I have ever slept on so much so that I woke up with terrible pains in my hips. Told the reception the next day who put quilts on mattress under sheets to make it softer, ok but not great nights sleep. Tea & coffee topped up daily. Very close to a huge electric pylon which buzzed loudly! Had read about this so asked for a room away from it which was allocated to us, so didnt really affect us. Booked a meal in Beefeater --- Table booked for 7pm, stood at door for 10mins waiting to be taken to table, eventually waitress gave us a table and took drinks order, 20 min later they arrived, put food order in, 3 of the meals we chose were unavailable, 45 mins later they arrived, childs steak was raw, my medium well fillet arrived as a well well done rump, friends meal had no salad, no drinks were offered to be topped up, couldnt see anyone at bar, no vinegar, no tomatoe sauce. Wine glasses were dirty, after not eating since 12pm the kids were crying and so hungry, couldnt see anyone to complain to as waitress bless her was rushed off her feet as she seemed to be the only one serving. We got up and walked out and went to Frankie & Bennies. Told receptionist at hotel who appologised. Breakfast was better. Served the purpose we went for, but dont think I would book this one again.

Room Tip: Room away from electric pylon
