“Nice enough hotel, expensive even for Switzeland, but a good base for exploring Lake Geneva region”

Lake front rooms with balconies will run your pockets empty quick. We stayed in a room that was pegged one level above their standard rooms - it was not facing the lake, was very small and cost us almost US$800 for two nights. To be fair the rooms are very nice and the bed are very comfortable, but I can't help but think you could get more bang for your buck elsewhere. The restaurant looks charming - lakeview patio - but the food is only average.

Good location right on the lake opposite ferry pier, and near Lausanne, but beware, it's quite a walk from the train station. If you have a lot of luggage, get a cab. You can catch the ferry to anywhere on Lake Geneva right in front of the hotel though, where there is also a ferry schedule. Take the ferry to Chateau de Chillon explore the castle (really recommended!) - then take the train back - get off at St. Saphorin station - and walk all the way back to Lutry and Le Rivage through the vineyards. Stop for a meal at one of the villages... it's a full and tiring day, but very fun. Or you can jump back on the train at any of the villages when you get tired.

Ok middle range small hotel, best rooms look over the Marina. Strange
Room locations spread over two adjacent buildings. Reception helpfull but really basic, expensive but its switzerland,

Room Tip: Best rooms have a view of the marina, one has a balcony that you can sit in.

We had a lovely four night stay at this hotel in July. We finished a cycling tour in Lutry and upgraded to a lake view room as a treat. Room 101 - it was worth the small extra expense. Sitting on the balcony enjoying a glass or two of wine and watching the sunset was idyllic.

The hotel is clean, tidy and the room had airconditioning, which was fabulous! The girls on the reception desk were very helpful and knowledgeable.

We did not eat at the restaurant in the evening, I found the menu very limited and expensive. The breakfast was good.

A fantastic stay and I would heartily recommend this hotel but upgrade to a lake view as Lake Geneva must be one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Spent lots of time in the hotel and I can say room 101 and 102 are the best. You should not expect 5* accomodation but you will get a nice service. At breakfast you will enoy really fresh baked bread and french style croissants together with an amazing coffee (ask for the fresh expresso, though, don't get the Nespresso machine !).

Limited free-parking places at the time of my last visit there. Be aware that during the summer time the access to the hotel by car is pretty tricky.

The view from the rooms with lake view is 10* (amazing panorama over the Geneva lake) and - for wine fans - do not miss the Consulat du Vin, which is 5 minutes walking from the hotel, a nice, cosy wine cellar with extremely friendly atmosphere. Check the opening hours in advance, though.

My wife and I booked a double room w/ balcony at the Rivage as a home base for the Montreux Jazz Festival and visits to local wine producers. We couldn't have been happier with our choice.

The Rivage is located within the 'Bourg' (old town) part of town, facing the lake promenade and a small yacht harbor, which means that it can get noisy during the daytime; however, things quiet down significantly after 10pm. And, although the hotel was fully booked during the time of our stay, we never heard a peep from any of the other rooms.

The hotel's location is unbeatable for trips to Lausanne, Montreux, and the surrounding countryside; and unlike some of the more pricier options along the lake shore, access to public transportation is readily available. The reception desk will even provide you with a free day pass for local buses and trains. Once you've parked your car at the nearby underground garage (CHF .40/h), all major destinations are within easy reach w/o the need to drive yourself.

Rooms are modern with air conditioning, ample closet space, and decently-sized bathroom with shower. Hotel personnel was friendly and attentive, and the reception desk remains staffed until midnight.

All in all, we truly enjoyed our stay at 'Le Rivage', and we will definitely be back for our next Swiss Riviera adventure.

I went to the Rivage for my birthday, it being the only "nice looking" place I had found open on a Sunday lunchtime around Lausanne. And I must say that we were really NOT disappointed.

The place is under-rated, it's excellent. Originally a traditional "somewhat shabby" vaudois place, they have modernised it without removing its original style. Sitting in the middle of Lutry's port, with a nice view on the lake and a beautiful terrace in summer, Le Rivage serves very good food. We were five eating, and from the entrée to the dessert, there was not a single mistake in the food. Everyone's dishes were excellent. There were some modern things, and also some more traditional dishes (like coquille st-jacques) and they were always tasteful, in good quantities, with a "little something special". To me, this place is a little gem. I would recommend to anybody.
