“Actually Disappointing”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 20, 2012

I took two children - 7 and 8 - and the visit was primarily for their enjoyment.

The overall impression it leaves is good - but the 2 hours was overly drawn out. A lot may be dependent on the guide. We heard what must have been hundreds of dates and measurements - and a barrage of facts - but not really tied together.

One can't really say the other children in the group (altogether there were about 30 people) were terribly excited.

After everything said and done - one could be glad one did it (it reminds me of being thankful to have had root canal work).

The whole tour could be boiled down to one hour and it would only be better.

It was also rather expensive everything considered.

I should also warn others that the tour is really only in Finnish - other languages can be arranged but am not familiar with how difficult this procedure would be.

Absolutely worth seeing. The place in unique in Finland. The mine is deep in cave and there is quite dark and cold.

Interesting tour down there 80 meters under ground. We had also nice dinner there but the restaurant is open only for groups by prior reservation.

“Excellent underground trip for young and old - but keep your sweaters on”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 29, 2011

This is practically old limestone mine used for a century and yet in use at lower levels. If you want to experience mining & underground scapes (some 110 meters below surface) in the most safe way this is one of those. Guides are excellent - language choices you might want to ask ahead. Mind that limestone caves & mines have a steady temperature year round i.e. keep warm cloths with you while visiting.
