“Ok but too expensive for the standard of accommodation”
Reviewed January 14, 2014 via mobile

Great location for beach, it is literally across the street. WiFi - didn't work at all during our stay. In general the hostel could be cleaner. Dorms are fine, comfortable beds. Occupied dorms/rooms are not cleaned daily. Walk of about ten minutes into the town. Very expensive for the standard provided.

Lovely fresh breakfast, nice dogs, nice family. Great location and very clean.

The beach is opposite and it's the nicest one we went to in la paloma, also gets the sunset! The room was nice and clean. The layout is nice too. It's not the most sociable layouts but it's real nice.

The town is an easy 10 min walk and it seemed very safe to us.

This is a small, family-run hostel. We were there in the off season, when it was very quiet, but it didn't feel deserted. It has friendly, inviting atmosphere. Our host, Laticia, was very friendly and helpful, and she presented us with a wonderful breakfast, nicely displayed.

There is a nice common room with television and games. The place is newly renovated with an open courtyard in the center, and the building itself is not old. The rooms are clean, and the showers are hot with good pressure.

I would definitely recommend, and I usually stay in hotels - I'm no backpacker (these days).

Room Tip: There is both a dorm and private rooms, so specify what you want.

in front of a beautiful beach, the balconada is a luxury and quite expansive small hostel, spotless and confy. Our double ensuite room was bright and big, breakfast is healthy, simple, with cakes and bread, yogurt, juice and fresh fruit. Friendly staff. The location is perfect, by the sea and 10 minutes walk to the center of La Paloma and 3 minutes to the village close to the bus station and close to Cadaques restaurant, for us the best parilla in Uruguay. Little detailes to improve services: some maps and information and a new keyboard with letters.

Its a small Hostel near good beach. It has only one little kitchen, only one spoon + only one fridge. They rent every single room and lived themselves in the livingroom area. TV is on the whole day.
It has to many rooms for such small facilities.
The owners are a family with two little kids (its quiet noisy the whole day).
The house is still in construction - hammering all day long.
For one night ok but not more!

I had a great time staying here for numerous reasons. The staff are friendly and helpful for one and it's pretty much right on the beach. You just have to cross a quiet road and go over the sand dune and you're there. There's a good, although slightly expensive restaurant right on the other side of the road. The people staying there were all friendly and fun as well. It's a bit of a walk to get to the supermarkets and the main part of town, but given that it's such a small town that's not much of a problem.
