“Excellent value!”
Reviewed March 25, 2012

We have stayed in many guest houses over the past ten years and The Rose Garden has to rank among the very best. In fact, its value for money can not be beaten. My husband and I arrived to a very welcome pot of tea (china cups!)and slices of home-made cake, baked by the very friendly owner. We discovered that instead of having a double room with ensuite bathroom, we actually had a suite of rooms! In our private sitting room, there was sherry on offer. A large bowl of fruit, lots of games, magazines, games, books, CDs completed the picture. We made ouselves comfy on the large sofas, supped our tea, devoured the cake and started on a game of chess-the first in over 20 years! Don't ask who won. When we returned from our evening out (drama festival), we made ourselves some delicious cafetière coffee. (There were a million different types of tea, plus hot chocolate on offer too-PLUS chokkies and biscuits!) The following morning did not disappoint. Fluffy white towels (big!)and a conucopia of toileteries were just the ticket. Bliss! The bathroom was roomy and warm. Breakfast was delicious. I opted for home-made pancakes, with sliced banana, a pot of blueberries and maple syrup; my husband tucked into scrambled eggs on toasted muffin. Preceding these was a selection of cereals, yoghurts, fruit salad, juices, nuts and seeds. Wow! What a feast! We happily recommend The Rose Garden to anyone. You will be as delighted as we were.

I have just booked our second stay at The Rose Garden. We felt so welcome the first time that we knew we would be back. It adds a whole new dimension to visiting family in the North East. I have been encouraging my husband to visit his mother again ever since!

The rooms are excellent. We stayed in the 'double' at the front of the house. Tasteful decor. Huge and lovely ensuite. There are all sorts of goodies in addition to the standard tea and coffee. The sitting room upstairs is a real bonus. The owner is excellent - friendly without being intrusive. She really 'sells' Saltburn as a good place to visit / live.

There was an excellent choice of places to eat in Saltburn. The breakfast was lovely. We felt welcomed and well-cared for in this lovely place.

We'll need to re-visit often!

Room Tip: Both rooms are excellent. We were allowed to choose!

We stayed here in December and it was our second visit. We NEVER return to places but The Rose Garden is such a gem. OUTSTANDING bedrooms with a fantastic guest lounge where you can help yourself to the complimentary drinks ~ Bailey's on a December evening was just perfect! Good quality toiletries and plenty of fresh towels etc. The breakfasts are the BEST breakfast we've ever had in a B+B.There's an enormous choice of cereals, fruit and breads as well as the usual cooked options. Everything is locally sourced if possible and the fact that this is all vegetarian foods is an added bonus! Carnivors shouldn't be put off! A day or two without meat for breakfast is more than compensated for by the fantastic food. The owner is cheerful, happy to offer ideas for days out etc but equally plesed to leave you alone. The house is gorgeous, filled with high quality bits and pieces whislt being incredibly comfortable. Saltburn is a delightfully quaint place and ideal for a couple of days by the sea.

Room Tip: Both the rooms appear equally good. Our room had a kingsized bed and was brill.

I stayed here at the recommendation of a friend (Tim) and I wasnt disappointed. The room was excellent, the welcome second to none and the small touches made all the difference. Rose cottage is in a great location and I would definately stay here again if I was in the area.

A fabulous B&B, with an excellent host! As soon as we arrived we were made to feel very welcome in this wonderful guest house. The host was very welcoming, and makes time to get to know her guests over a cup of tea and some very nice homemade cake! The room we stayed in was spacious and modern but also kept some of that Victorian character Saltburn is famous for. The bathroom was excellent and had all the toiletries you require, and the bed was very comfy, there was even a free complementary whiskey or sherry in the lounge area which makes a nice bed time tipple. We stayed here after walking the Cleveland way so I was very happy to see a foot spa in the room! Great help on those tire feet. A hidden gem of a B&B, would love to stay again

This is the perfect place to stay - just wish we were able to stay longer than our 1 night.
The room was beautiful and such a pleasure to have a sitting room as well. The Veggie breafast had so much choice and was teally delicious. A relaxing and delightful stay. Ethical considerations are important here too. Nothing was too much trouble. Rose Garden is very close to Saltburn - just a few minutes away.
A Wonderful place to stay . Thankyou!
