“Reasonable Stay”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

Quite enjoyed our visit...there are areas of the hotel that look "tired" and the double bed was like sleeping on molehills (room 12)... the staff were helpful and considerate...food took a little time to emerge but was of decent quality and quantity...breakfast was fine no problems...overall reasonable value for money

Thank you for your review. The room you were in is one of a corridor which we are due to work on next, following some roof work. The mattress will be a priority, I can assure you!

Best wishes, Cathy

I held my 50th birthday party at the Spa Hotel in May this year. The whole event could not have been better, if I had wished it. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating throughout the planning, the event itself and for the guests who stayed for the weekend. The venue for the evening event was perfect. I decorated the tables in the function room with tablecloths, candles, flowers, balloons, sprinkles and party poppers and the room developed a lovely ambience. I had local musicians booked to play and had a friend face painting. Both adults and children had a great time. We used the buffet room for people who wanted to be somewhere quieter to just eat and chat. The Spa provided a buffet for 100 guests and they really went out of their way to accommodate my requests. Many of my guests & friends are vegetarian, vegan or gluten free. The buffet was brilliant and deserves a huge thank you in itself. On my party invite I invited my guests to an ambient evening of socialising, dancing, happiness & laughter with local musicians, nibbles and cakes ... and that is exactly what we had. We ended the evening with sparklers and sky lanterns on the patio. A perfect end to a perfect evening. Myself, my children and guests who had travelled some distance stayed overnight at the hotel. Lovely, clean, recently refurbished rooms and a good cooked breakfast the next morning. Also perfect location for my son to go for a morning surf and for us to have an after breakfast walk along the beach with family and friends. Thank you Saltburn Spa Hotel for a truly perfect event!!

Room Tip: I had a family room for myself and my 2 sons above the function room . The room was recently refurbi...

Thank you so much for your review and for having your birthday do at The Spa. we are so pleased that you enjoyed it and it felt like a really lovely evening; one that all the staff enjoyed being involved in. Very grateful for you taking the time to add it to Trip advisor. Really delighted that you enjoyed the buffet too-thank you.

First time of visiting since a large refurbishment started. A very pleasant surprise. The main dining area is in a Conservatory type room with outstanding views over the sea. Bright and airy with good spacing between the tables. Lunchtime visit. Menu not large but some interesting additions to the average pub menu. Service friendly and attentive without being rushed Food took some time so obviously cooked to order which cannot be said of a lot of places. Suited us anyway as we were dining with some friends that we hadn't seen for a while. The only downside was that although there were two hand pumps on the Bar, neither were operational at the time. Cost rather more than a normal pub but the food was worth it.

Thank you for reviewing us and for mentioning the cask ale as I'm delighted to say that choosing two or three new ones is on our priority list this week! I can think of worse jobs...

We have a new Head chef and we're really pleased that you enjoyed the food. As you said, everything is always cooked fresh to order and we have exciting plans for the kitchen and new menus due out shortly.

Please come again and we hope you continue to enjoy the improvements.

Best wishes, Cathy Kelly

We planned to stay for 4 nights during the half term break and that quickly turned into 6! Hotel staff are very friendly and always happy to help. Our family room was spacious and clean. The hotel itself is dated in areas but improvements are being made all the time. The food served at breakfast and lunch was very good with a good range of choice. Bar area was comfortable and clean too. An enjoyable break!

Thank you for your review. I've spent today collecting information for our visitor info packs and absolutely agree that they are needed in the rooms! Since taking over in September, we have had a long " to do" list and this has always been one of them. It's good to have a nudge though and we're on to it.

Please come again-we're delighted that you enjoyed your stay.

I stayed with my Mum & Dad and teenage son. The location is fab...and once the mist cleared we had some great views down onto the beach and along the cliffs. The hotel itself has a lovely patio area outside and ample parking. The rooms were very clean, well furnished and comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and we had a lovely meal in the restaurant in the evening. The breakfast next morning was very good. If I had to offer some feedback it would be to have some information packs in the rooms and to have breakfast options printed up and also look into odd plumbing noises - very minor though ...other than that, nothing to complain about! Would love to return and stay again and check out Saltburn more fully....

Thank you for your review. Absolutely agree with all your suggestions and all are on our priority list with the refurbishment...we're making headway and loving the challenge. Our patio area is being extended next week, information packs have been sourced and are due to be ordered and breakfast plans are afoot. As a small family business, things can take a little more time but we're determined to make our hotel a wonderful, relaxing getaway for all our customers.

With a prime location and decent rooms this place could be great, but the management need to invest more on staff. We visited on Bank Holiday and it was obvious that the same staff covered bar, restaurant, reception as best they could, but inevitably they were spread too thin. Some of the staff just got on with it and were cheerful, but others seemed to be going through the motions and doing a job rather than serving guests.

Come on management, get some support for your flagging team.
