We stay at the Bickford Arms on a regular basis as we have family in the area. We find it excellent value for money. The rooms are spacious, stylish and exceptionally clean with plenty of storage. The food is well above average for a pub, with a daily specials board. The owners and staff are extremely friendly and helpful, there is always a warm welcome even at busy times. Lastly the Bickford is ideally suited to explore the beautiful counties of Devon and Cornwall.

Room Tip: Our favourite is the Arscot, but the other rooms we have stayed in have been very good.

My wife and I have just returned from a five night stay at the Bickford and we were delighted to have chosen this pub from many others available in the area. To be honest one previous review of the Bickford complained about the "Saturday night" noise and this almost put is off - just glad it didn't otherwise we would have missed a real treat. Everybody was so friendly and the room we had was large, spotless and very comfortable. The food at dinner was first class - breakfast was a real treat in itself. Not just a pub - more a home from home.

Room Tip: Choose the Cadiho room.

Stopped here recently for a few days, the room we were allocated was clean and a good size.
Comfy bed, so managed a good nights sleep, plus it was quiet.
Nice welcome on arrival staff were friendly.
The selection of real ales, wines & spirits was great and the food menu was fantastic for a pub, we ate here every night, enjoyed a few drinks as well.
Breakfast was a great way to start the day.
All in all we had a great stay loved the food and drink, and being able to relax.

We first came here by chance and were really thrilled with the lovely wood fire and cosy clean interior, and a wide menu of decent and well priced food - not your usual cheap lasagne and chips pub food. From thai curry to pies, belly pork and decent salads, as well as yummy puddings, this is a very nice venue. The decor is very much a traditional country pub with settles and rustic decor. The toilets are clean and well presented, making this a great place for a family gathering or evening meal with friends.

Our first visit, recommended by friends who joined us for supper. The food was very good, we really enjoyed the scollops and black pudding starter. Steak and Ale pie, great and a generous cheeseboard with our coffee. Very friendly Staff. Will certainly return soon.

We had curry with naan bread and rice, which was very good and beef and ale pie with chips and peas. The meat was very tender and tasty but the pastry top was rather solid and board like. Very nice hand cut chips.
