“Great accommodation in lovely setting”
Reviewed September 22, 2014 for a stay in September 2014

We had a wonderful week here in the sunshine. Paul and his family were great hosts and the Homestead was very comfortable, clean and above all quiet. Having the space to roam uninterrupted around the farm was lovely. We enjoyed meeting some of the animals including the two young farm cats and the ducks - who I thought might come in when they were in the garden one morning and I opened the door and they all ran towards it!

One of our pleasures on such a sunny week was getting back in time to sit on the verandah and have a drink in the late sunshine, discuss our day and look at photos we'd taken. We spent most of our time walking along the beaches between Bude, Northcott Mouth, Sandymouth and Duckpool at low tide and back along the cliff tops - outstanding views (but not for those with very young children). The Homestead was well placed for these areas. Another wonderful walk is from St Gennys Church to Crackington Haven which includes a fantastic walk along a ridge (not steep though). Walk down from the cliff top for a pub lunch and the back up and a shortcut across the fields and back to the car.

As a couple with many years renting holiday properties this one is definitely up there with the "would go back to" places we have stayed in.

“Wonderful stay, delightful owners”
Reviewed September 9, 2014 for a stay in September 2014

My wife and I took our 16 month old baby to stay in the Homestead for a long weekend and we are delighted we did. Paul was extremely thorough leading up to the visit making sure that we had everything in place when we arrived. The cottage was lovely and set on a beautiful farm. we were given the opportunity to feed the animals and Paul took us on a tractor ride around the farm which our baby loved. I would highly recommend the homestead which is ideal for visiting Bude and other delights of Devon.

“I selected the perfect, peaceful, getaway for me and my family.”
Reviewed August 31, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We very much enjoyed our time staying at Southcombe Farm!

We found Paul to be a warm and enthusiastic host, and we were always welcomed with a smile. The children thoroughly enjoyed the new experience of feeding the farm animals daily, Paul was very patient and enjoys teaching the children the farm routine. We all enjoyed the tractor ride, and it was a nice touch to involve the children in a short quiz on naming various trees and plants around the farm land on route.

The property itself was welcoming and comfortable. It was situated beautifully to enjoy the sunset at the end of hectic day. The kitchen included everything you could possibly need. A washing machine and dishwasher, iron and ironing board was an added bonus with young children and everything was of a high standard.

If I had one constructive recommendation it would be some high available cupboard space in which to store prescription medication, children treats or shopping, Unfortunately/fortunately Paul and Eileen have given you a wonderful array of crockery with everything you could possibly require, cups and saucers are just a must for me and they had both cups and saucers and mugs, along with a multitude of other matching items.

Extras like washing up liquid, sponge, cloths, dishwasher tablets, bath robes, soft, clean, white towels and a selection of small hotel toiletries was a nice touch, not forgetting the 6 fresh eggs, organic milk and Eileen's homemade fruit cake and beautiful sponge that's a winner of a welcoming gift!!

The bedrooms were again clean, fresh, tidy with particularly comfortable beds, with if I'm not mistaken a mixture of firm and medium softness pillow thus catering for all our requirements.

The homestead has its own parking space and front garden which is quite nice, and although not a noisy farm anyway it is more secluded away from the main part of the farm which is nice.

If your coming to North Devon you know your location and will find beautiful rolling countryside on your daily trips out, amongst our daily jaunts we enjoyed days out to Exmoor Zoo, Bude, Westward Ho, and The Eden Project which is well worth a visit!

We very much thank Paul and his family for their hospitality and assistance ! during our stay at Southcombe Farm, the boys thank the cats, Heidi and Henry, and the ducks for making them laugh on a daily basis with their antics.

Would we return......Yes.

Super time had by all...xx

“Stunning property, lovely owners five star holiday!!!!”
Reviewed August 17, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

This was our second stay at Southcombe Farm this time staying in the homestead instead of the barn. Can honestly say that both properties are fantastic. The homestead has every item u could need , from cutlery to dishwashers to washing machines.. The level of cleanliness when you arrive is five star and the owners are only too pleased to help with any queries u may have. My eight and eleven yr olds have a whale of a time helping and feeding the animals, and just generally exploring the farm. Nature trails and tyre swings a firm favourite..
A fabulous place to stay!!!!!

“Great and lovely holiday home from two bikers.”
Reviewed August 6, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We went to The Homestead with a very large motorbike and it was no problem at all. The owners of Southcombe Farm are very nice people and they tell you everything about the farm and the surroundings.
Because we travel with a motorbike we ask if they could buy us diner and breakfast.. It was no problem, so nice of them! The Homestead holiday cottage lies on The Farm but it has privacy enough and it is very clean! For us was it a very good place to stay and to ride every day on the motorbike to explore the countryside.

“Fantastic accommodation - great hosts”
Reviewed July 28, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

The Homestead was a superb place to stay - spotlessly clean and a great welcome. Everything you could need was there, the location was great. Our daughter loved helping to feed the animals and we all had great fun exploring the farm and playing on the tyre swing. It was the most luxurious accommodation we have stayed in and would definitely make a return visit.

“Not only met our expectations but exceeded them, in every way - wonderful!”
Reviewed September 2, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

The Homestead really is a beautiful place to stay. Our family - me, hubby and kids, 9 & 7, were looking forward to staying as the accommodation pics looked great. In actual fact, the Homestead in reality, was even better. Clean, high spec, comfortable, well designed with a lovely finish & feel. The rooms are spacious and airy with views of the beautiful countryside from every window. The moment we arrived we felt relaxed and 'at home.'
The plus points don't stop with the accommodation. Loads to do on the farm which we all enjoyed, not just the kids! Feeding the animals, tractor rides, brilliant nature trail - huge fun. Not to mention the tyre swing! We also had a canoe trip on the nearby Bude canal with Paul from the farm. This was immensely enjoyable and Paul was a great instructor with loads of interesting facts about the local flora and fauna.
Holsworthy itself is ideally placed for days out too. We went to Bideford, Barnstaple, & Bude. The town has a supermarket and a decent selection of pubs and shops.
All in all we had a fab time whilst at the Homestead - a relaxing place for all the family, safe for kids to explore and grown ups too. We didn't want to leave and so we shall return!
